They are so damn good at building up these battles and the action never disappoints...

I like the hilarious :ohhh: + :why: look on the Princess' brother's face when he realized that the Vikings weren't dividing their forces and were out of arrow range. That could be its own smilie.

Apples and oranges. Spartacus was more cartoonish violence and damn near porno. Vikings is more of Game of Thrones wit slower pace and character development.

The fight scenes in Vikings are way more simple too, closer to real life as they are based on those dudes actual tactics wit close combat and shield formations.
