Certainly the whole contingent will go, but I’m thinking these comments from the MAGA side aren’t a one off and that a sizable part of that contingent will break away and not buy what Israel is selling. But I could easily be wrong

look, if we're being honest....the average american doesn't care about launching strikes. and they don't even care about enlisted soldiers going to war; it's what they signed up for. people are gonna grumble about this, but it's just not close to home

the only "massive uniter" of the left and right, is gonna be a vietnam-style draft. and that's not happening in a million years

and to a lesser extent, something like the Strait shutting down, and fukking up the world economy. gas prices skyrocketing. trump can't juelz his way outta that

Ngl, I’m incredibly fascinated to see if war with Iran brings together the left and right in this country. Although for totally different reasons, there’s a common desire to not go to war or waste more tax dollars on wars and to a lesser extent on Israel.

Would be crazy if this brings about a popular movement not just against the Israeli lobby but against money in politics in general.

That's a bad idea. One, it'll hurt China more than it hurts the West for the most part. Two, right now DC is sitting on the fence and not launching strikes on Iran. They close the strait, the West will get off the fence and actively participate in strikes on Iran.

Israel censors any real reporting on their military affairs. We've seen enough from other news outlets that some of these Iran missiles are getting through and causing damage. Bibi is already running to Trump after only a couple days. They can't win this war without our involvement. Trump is a fukking idiot to even be listening to Bibi.

Nah Iran has built their own hypersonic missiles. Not saying they haven't received some help from others but they showed them off in 2023. The Iron Dome cannot stop some of these, that's why you are seeing them so tight lipped about it

The problem for Iran is launchers. Israel is quickly finding out where the locations are and destroying them.

They actually manufactured the missiles themselves, they have the engineering and scientific know-how at home.

Their poor performance may be partly attributed to sanctions (i.e. their inability to rebuild their air force), but its not the whole story. They had their entire military command and most of their air defence destroyed before the war even really took off. Its been clear for some time theyve been infilitrated at highest levels. A government that brittle and easy to penetrate can only have themselves to blame.

They also have been half-stepping on their nuclear programme for decades, instead of moving decisively in one direction or another. They thought it could be used as a carrot to extract concessions, but that backfired badly.

Am I the only one that finds this framing weird as fukk. Getting us involved in another foreign war in the middle east isn't a distraction its one of the things on list.
