Unlikely to achieve any major strategic objective in short-term. I dont think regime falls and it doesnt seem Irans responses are establishing much deterrence either. We should know in the longer-term whether it actually ended their nuclear programme or whether it accelerated the weaponization of it.

All signs for the latter IMO.

Interesting counterinuitive article from the Economist here: Fierce hardliners are grabbing power in Iran

TLDR, they are arguing that the military and IRGC specifically have taken power from the Ayatollah and are more likely to favour a sprint to bomb while relaxing social rules. People underestimate how popular an Iranian state that is less religiously inclined but nationalistic will be among their general population.

It won’t go far enough. They’re gonna need that revolution. Islamism is old news. Even the Saudis abandoned that shyt.

100%. I think that’s the path. Iranians aren’t religious by and large.
