Even if you "control" the coastline, it still not a guarantee that ships can have "safe passage". You only need 1 bomb to hit a ship and the whole thing goes back to "I ain't going through there"

Us military isn't built for a war of attrition, any war with iran would be a very prolonged and dangerous war. It's not terrain you can just get in and out like Iraq or Afghanistan, you're also dealing with 90 million people with thousands of underground bunkers.
