It’s not about replacing, it’s about having enough of a plurality where you can dictate state policy by holding countries hostage by holding a significant share of the oil market

It’s not about how much oil you have. Can you refine it? Are you technologically proficient to produce useable energy? Nigeria technically has a lot of oil yet they import from America because they just opened their first major refinery a few years ago.

Think of it as a hostile takeover in a company only with missiles, assassinations and kidnappings.

This power play would have made sense if it was 10 years in the future after Venezuela’s capacity was built up

Blockade is interesting aside from the whole stupidity of the plan. The largest navy will have an issue with this. Sure they get a lot of oil by ground from Russia, but things like this have started wars in the past. Good thing we have wise and professional leadership just in case they decide to send a few ships to escort their tankers.
