I was wondering if they made of the stuff about the panda bears on the Jehovah's Witness Watchtower pamphlets that Looking Glass was handing out in 1985. I though maybe they put that in there as a reference to the "Panda" cop character, but it looks like its based on something real:
Looks like the real one is from 1992, though. Apparently, it led to a slur that they believe in a "Panda-Petting Paradise".

Well... no. Snyder missed basically all of the subtext the source material was layered in, and cut an entire plotline out of the movie outright that actually destabilizes the ending itself. It was so bad, Moore disavowed the thing loudly before it even came out - sure, for Moore reasons, as well, but also because... Snyder missed the point of the movie he was trying to make. Changing the ending from Squid to Manhattan not only proved the lack of understanding for what the ending was supposed to accomplish in providing a threat to unite under (you can't do that with Manhattan. He's damn near a god. No amount of uniting from US/USSR saves anyone), but the fact that he felt like it wouldn't make sense just shows the failings of the movie.
He had 3 hours to make sure the ending of fukking Watchmen made sense. One of the most iconic endings to a piece of media insofar as subversion of expectation goes... and he failed to do that so to the point that they changed the ending. So no. Snyder wasn't a faithful adaptation - dude made a movie based on a one-dimensional, surface-level interpretation of a comic that was always more subtext than overt, even when people were getting punched in the face.

Yeah, at first I was thinking it was something to do with the Panda character also... who we haven't heard from much since the beginning of the season. I think Panda gonna be involved in some bullshyt in the next couple episodes because everything Lindelof does is planned out meticulously, there is a reason for it...
There's a reason why he's "Panda" and there's a reason why he's one of the first characters we meet in episode 1. He was "by the book" and not wanting to allow that officer to release the firearm and it gave the 7K member plenty of time to shoot him through the windshield..
I don't know if Panda is somehow involved in 7K but he seems bought...
