I think so, because i'm pretty sure i posted an argument that fight night champion is technically a fighting game with a black main character. and yet i don't see it in here anymore.
Unless this is a copy cat thread of another one i'm mistaking it for.

Game: Mortal Kombat 4

Synopsis from Fighters Gen:

“A former member of the White Lotus Society, Kai learned his skills from the great masters throughout Asia. He journeyed to the far east after meeting his friend and ally Liu Kang in America. Now they reunite and assist Raiden in his battle against Shinnok.”

Thoughts:
Kai was a great follow if not standard follow up protagonist as there was a chance to really explore his character, being a breh from Detroit. Honestly how does he make his way to Asia and decide to use Zulu warrior face paint. Netherrealm really fukked up not bringing him back in the new timelines as a strong black lead especially with the emasculation of Jax. In the OG timeline he received Raiden’s staff had a great chance to be a blend of Shaolin and bojutsu, but like all of the 3D era characters sadly they just mistreated.

Thoughts: An Aboriginal man fighting with his own version of Pankration hunting a giant shark. There’s gotta be allegory in there for the white man coming in and destroying what a black man holds precious, but maybe I’m giving japan too much credit.

One of the worst and damn near offensive black designed characters in a fighting game in history.

In the new timeline

MK9 - Jax gets his arms ripped off by Ermac instead of voluntary signing up for the program

MKX - Hes retired and living on the farm depressed with PTSD and a faceless wife. The ONLY character post revival era with PTSD

MK11 - He has jacquie and is now a quivering bytch who is so mentally weak hes gets easily convinced to switch sides cause hes doing the right thing. Then they had the gall to put him in persian nightclub owner’s wife lululemon tights.



Netherrealm took away his entire agency as character and made the ONLY strong black male character trauma porn with no clear path to redemption and the cigar smoking is the phallic candle on that victim cake.

MK1 did him more just but hes just Black Nick Fury in the new new timeline.

Synopsis: SNK Wiki
Lucky is the 1st-place defender of the Long Beach International Karate Championships who is also a former professional basketball player in the Staples Center. He later was invited by his friend, Heavy D!, to form a team with him in the King of Fighters tournament and to step up his karate tournament game. Aside from his desire to help bolster his friend's confidence, Lucky joins the tournament to test his fighting ability. In their ending, he says he'll continue street fighting.


Thoughts: Not much to say, dude is based on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and supposedly played for the Lakers in KOF lore. He has a fun playstyle but takes some time getting used to.
