See, this is exactly what i thought.

My navy recruiter told me this when i was talking to both. I was gonna go army because they were talking about how much more money they make/spend then went to the Navy guy and he was like :mjlol:

Like i said, i hope he has it guaranteed in his contract. Army is ok but idk... I would probably go Marines before Army honestly

army gurantees his job in the contract. that is standard protocol. The only way he gets to another job is if he fails his AIT.

Any of you army dudes seen combat?

Yes and it's :banderas:

It only sucks when you see one of your brehs gets killed or seroiusly hurt. One of my medics is now a quadrapilegic (sp?). But those are the risks invovled in it.

I enlisted when I was 23 and I commissioned as an officer when I turned 28 :banderas:

To tell you the truth, I wish I would have enlisted when I got right out of high school, fresh out. The army has so much opporotunity, its rediciulous.

You need more than just a college degree to be taken seriously for an officer position. You need high PT and Asvab scores, a good (at the very least, 3.0) GPA, letters of recommendations, and probably more. Also, officers don't really get to choose their jobs. The Army assigns you your job. You can list your preferences but there's no guarantee where you'll wind up unless you're the Honor Graduate at OCS.

My MOS provides a road to becoming a crew chief, so that's something I'll definitely look into.

Dude...My only advice is..If u dont have kids...dont be like these fools who all of a sudden wanna nut up inside of something because she's giving u play just because u got a uniform. Keep the condoms on and dont make no kids till u 30 plus, got rank and have your money stacked up.

Take as many correspondance courses as possible and if u can go back to school take advantage of that because u get to be seperate from what everyone else in your company is doing.

and dont be a "cheesedikk"

Trump is reducing the military budget anyways so yall better find another solution and quick.

Gonna be a lot of layoffs and fat angry military wives barefoot with 2-3 kids looking for an Uncle Sam handout.

:manny:OCS is extremely competitive. How is a nikka like me, who hasn't held a job in over 4 years and has only a slightly above mediocre GPA, gonna compete with a trilingual Eagle Scout with a dozen glowing letters of recommendation?

Plus, I don't see many benefits in being an officer, with the exception of cushier living conditions and more money (neither are terribly important to me. I'd much rather learn to become proficient at my job).

You making excuses bruh

The bolded shouldnt be hard AT ALL.

Run 2 miles in 15 minutes, do 80 pushups, 80 situps and eat.

If you completed college then ASVAB shouldnt have even been hard. No harder than SAT's or ACT's to even get in.

And people have explained that unless your job is guaranteed you might not get to keep your job in enlisted either. You wont go needs of the Army as an officer doing infantry or shyt jobs.

And from my understanding as officer there are certain groups you go in but its more focused on things the military needs.

You would do better by just saying you didnt want to go officer.

But whatever man, good luck.

I've already taken the ASVAB and I scored well on it. But my GPA is well below 3.0 though. And yes, your job IS guaranteed as an enlisted, once you sign the contract- as long as you don't flunk out of your AIT for that job, or fail to meet other requirements.

I'm not making excuses, it's just not as simple as graduating college with a Bachelors, and then walking into an officer position in the Army. If it were this easy, then everyone that graduates would be doing it and going Officer just to make the $$$. The Army (along with the other branches) has a very stringent and selective process before you are selected.

I got honor graduate outta enlisted basic training in the Air Force. Aced the pt/written tests and followed my recruiters advice to lay low and basically be unknown to the t.i. When I went up to get my honor grad certificate the instructor looked at me and said "Who the fukk are you and how did you get this?" I was just like, "I'm good sir."

What the hell does Trump have to do with anything?

Let me help you out:

- If Trump becomes President he has power to influence legislation.
- Trump has publicly stated multiple times he will reduce the defense budget and our presence overseas.
- This means ultimately that those who enroll today in the military will have their employment in danger.

Get it?
