Yeah you dont come in as Enlisted 1 (E1/private) you come in as E3 or E4 if you have a degree.. petty officer rank which is the equivilent of specialist or corporal, right under sergeant.

In fact, E4 puts you at an immediate higher rank than some of the more obscure GI Joes that are only E3s... :dead: so when you think about it its pretty crazy system to use education to determine military rank.
If on the cartoon they were like "Cobra depleted our forces, but no worries we got some college grads from MIT... they can help" Serpentor would of beat the shyt outta them.

:mjlol:Characters with a Corporal (E-4) rank
All of them were created back in the old days when nikkas could fukking retire at E3-E5

That shyt doesnt exist anymore

Even in the Navy hardly. If you dont at least make E6 and get retired youre looked at as an idiot.

Plus the Army is quicker to rank up than mostly any other branch.

You know how many Army E7's and E8's i knew that were only a couple years older than me while im being held back from making E6 for bullshyt reasons.

Not saying its easy to do im saying they dont have bullshyt tests, eval politics, quotas, and other shyt trying to hold them back or fukk them over... At least from my understanding.

Him going E4 is nothing new but i will say this, he better be on his shyt because everyone thats been in awhile gonna be looking at him like :dame:

Which is another reason i wouldve tried to go officer. More money, more exstensive training, less expectactions as an O-1 than an E4. They expect you to have been in at least 2 years to be an E4 but it is what it is.

Its about the money and education never forget that OP but you will get tested. Know your shyt pleighboi:dame:

I know how the system works. My point was its funny that he is brand new and has seen no combat or even started bootcamp but the E4 rank places him higher than seal team 6 level GI Joes with 50+ missions under their belt who have fought snakeman terrorists riding dinosaurs.

(Yes cobra has dinosaurs)

Like, if he just shows up on his first day and they are like "Oh you are E4? Well hop in the dino hunter hummer tank I guess. You can patrol."

And i explained to you why

This shyt didnt happen back then when GI joes were actually cool or something. Making rank in or before bootcamp is fairly new. My grandad had a degree before he was drafted and they kept him at arpund E2-E3 by the time he did his 4 years.

But nikkas come in at E2-E4 everyday now

It happens

Nothing for him to be ashamed of either. He couldve got more but fukk that, get what you can when you can because they gonna get it out of you. He just gonna have to learn shyt faster than others

:manny:OCS is extremely competitive. How is a nikka like me, who hasn't held a job in over 4 years and has only a slightly above mediocre GPA, gonna compete with a trilingual Eagle Scout with a dozen glowing letters of recommendation?

Plus, I don't see many benefits in being an officer, with the exception of cushier living conditions and more money (neither are terribly important to me. I'd much rather learn to become proficient at my job).

I was in the USN for 10 years. .. you will notice how important it is to be an officier after about 4 years..

They literally make twice as much money as th do and do half of the work... plus being enlisted you are going to encouter ALOT of 19 year old idiots that you will have to work with/live with/ compete with

After about 4 years your going to realize how big of a mistake you made

I can always put in my warrant officer packet after I've been in for a while.

that's all it's about...Remember in the Army you get in trouble for people multiple levels below you in rank who aren't even you first line rated personnel...The NCOER/OER and schools is the only thing that matters for promotion.

Depends on what you do in the army. If I get my certifications, my job can transfer quite well into civilian employment. But yeah, something like infantrymanship, in itself, isn't worth a dime on a civilian job application (apart from the general discipline and structure that you can get from any army MOS).

You'll see really soon :sas1:

Navy wise enlisted put up with so much bullshyt....especially on deployments. You're also forgetting the different liberty curfews and such. Officers got the better food, didn't have to clean up after themselves. Not to mention were treated like fukking adults, compared to lower enlisted where you basically getting treated like a damn High Schooler :francis:

When one dikkhead E-3 gets a DUI out in town all the lower enlisted suffer from it.

Good luck to you op.
You can use this opportunity to either be a great career or a really solid stepping stone for your future.
or get homicided by the opposition.

pray for the former though.

i pray you flourish OP. as a black man in hi oppressor's army i wish you the best sincerely. I pray no harm comes to you while trying to make a way for yourself. :to:

i guess it's better than being recruited in a drug-pedalling gang.:ld:

ohhh okay. so you can get your certs through your experience in the army but cannot detail the work you've done while in the army on your resume right?

To get some silly little piece of paper. I've graduated college, but I've only learned 3 things
-No one gives a shyt
-I don't know shyt
-I have no "work experience."

If I could do it over I would not waste my time in college.
This sounds like revisionist thinking. Be honest with yourself and be accountable why did you have a mediocre GPA? What was your major? Did you apply yourself hard enough in college?
Anyway good luck to you and Godspeed friend?

Yeah it be like that in the navy as well. I used to make my supervisors look good af.. Help them get rank and usually they did the same

But i didnt know that. I know you guys test and have quotas either.

Then we had the EP bullshyt where theres only one EP amongst an entire rank/rating that usually went to the best ass kisser.

It was just a bunch of shyt against a lot of people making rank. Theyll be like only 5% of the entire navy at that Rank/Rating that made it and the quotas always changed depending on what the Navy assumed they needed. I didnt know Army had it like that.

We had people that got capped because theyve tested a million times and never made rank because their shyt was basically closed up and they were on the verge of getting kicked out because of it...

Enlisted nikka problems though:dame:
