Double jeopardy is trying for the same crime TWICE in the same court of jurisdiction. When somebody like Offset(a repeat felon) has a firearm, he can be first charged under Georgian laws for being a felon with a gun because he was caught in Georgia, and because he's FEDERALLY prohibited from owning a gun as well, can be charged under Federal statues if the Feds take his case(a lot of the times they won't, but they do it for repeat gun offenders). Since the Federal government has jurisdiction due to him being FEDERALLY prohibition from getting a strap.
He won't do life, but his lawyer fees are going to be the size of one of those nice townhomes in Buckhead.
