There's nothing wrong with being a fan of a sport, even if you're not gonna be diehard about a specific team. Honestly diehard fans usually let their biases make them say ridiculous things and use it as a way to judge other people.
"your team" doesn't give a shyt about you, pay you any money or give back to you for all your loyalty to them, aside from rare instances where you have like the 50 year season ticket holder...
I'd rather hear someone say they like a couple different teams and legitimately like and follow the sport, than someone talk about what "we" need to do in the draft, or how "we're gonna beat the crap out of _____"

I know if the shyt teams I root for in their respective sports ever win it'll be sweet because I suffer through the disappointment heartbreak ineptitude and failures.

Fair, but I don't think everyone that has more than one team they like is a bandwagon fan (which I do agree is annoying) but if I'm say a steelers fan and leveon bell is my current favorite player.. I'm not suddenly gonna hate bell if he got traded, and if a team ends up with 3-4 players I like from college or trades I'm probably gonna start watching that team more.

I think you don't have to have any loyalty to a specific team, but if you don't and you actually love the sport/league, you will jist watch random games. A lot of sports fans don't have a "team" but tbh most do.

thats fine and dandy, but then you shouldnt say you 'like' any teams.
if you like the sport by itself without any teams, then say so. how you finna like the sport above everything but then like some teams more than other teams, it doesnt make much sense. its the same shyt as liking one team, only more bandwagon-y

ehh, it kinda depends on the sport imo. like the nba is star driven, so if you really fukk with durant and damian lilliard, i don't mind people rooting for both teams, as long as they don't front like they're some diehard fan of the team. admit to liking the player and rooting for the team because of the player (that's the issue with lebron fans, very few seem to be able to admit to being a bron stan, they always act like the cavs or heat been their "other" team their entire lives

I like more teams now than I did when I was a teenager/kid. There are more playing styles that I appreciate (across sports) and there is more access to watch them.

In today's sports world, with free agency trades and injuries... the general replace-ability of parts... it kind of makes more sense to like a player than a team.
It's not how I personally grew up watching, but i don't begrudge people for it, really.
I like more teams now than I did when I was a teenager/kid. There are more playing styles that I appreciate (across sports) and there is more access to watch them.
I agree with the first part especially, for me, as it pertains to basketball. I grew up in Buffalo so I'm a die hard Bills fan because that's the home team. But I can't possibly have that same passion for any NBA team. There are certain players whose stories and/or games I may like. That's how I choose who to root for in basketball and make no apologies about this.
As a person who roots both ways, I think both have their advantages.
The thing I don't like is that bandwagon ish. That ride whoever's hot wave. Nah that's wack. Any player I'm feeling, I was feeling before they got to the league and I ride with them til the end. I'm still a die hard Vick and Tebow fan, I don't gaf.

Their games are never aired around here, and if they are, they're getting fukking smoked (these days). Can't even claim to be a fan, but can't claim to be fan of a new team so I route for local teams... Giants, Jets, etc. fukk the Patriots, though

Over the years, it has occurred to me that die-hard fans are probably the most retarded sports fans of them all. It seems to me that most of them don't really enjoy the sports, they just care about the bragging rights aspects, the waiting ("suffering") for bragging rights, the narratives, the wanting to belong to something they had little to do with other than offering the amount of time they've "invested" into the teams in terms of years and hours per year.
And it is these people responsible for all the retarded sports stadium deals of this millenium where organizations worth ~1 billion and up can extort small towns and big cities alike for tax breaks, discounts, even straight up cash, etc. and all kinds of scenarios that make absolutely no sense financially for these cities. All because they don't want to lose "their team".
