People will rather call retailers liars than admit that there's a problem in these communities and that's why they struggle to attract or keep existing businesses.
Because the numbers don’t support what they’re pushing :heh:

Some y’all are so fukking stupid

So whats they end game for target making up claims about the rate of shoplifting.

I know it's not :mjpls: this the same folk that let man use women bathrooms /sarcasm

but real talk is it a type of insurance fraud?
Retail business is down. They don't want to say that. Easier to attribute a failing business to “crime.”

How did they make up claims?
The report does not give you all the info on the stores. One store can have more theft but have way more traffic that makes up for the theft

They're in business to make money. If they are closing stores in your area, it's because it doesn't make financial sense for them. That's not rocket science.

The same fukking idiots that make excuses for looting and smash & grabs will be the same fukking idiots crying about food deserts or lack of jobs in the neighborhood.

It's like people can't grasp basic shyt until the moment has passed.

less incidents doesnt mean its less product or money value stolen... you could have 100 incidents at average $80 stolen per incident or you could have 50 incidents at $300 stolen per incident.. the 50 incidents is worse.. what a stupid post and barometer

Misleading stats.
Targets don’t report every shoplifting event to the authorities. The only incidents filed are if the perpetrators are apprehended by undercover target security and then police are called to pick up the perps. Apprehensions are only typically approved for repeat shoplifters that a case has been built against them. There are some that can be done in the moment if the theft is egregious enough in the moment. And even then typically the merch is retrieved and the perp is let go, for they did not get approval to apprehend.

And if your talking nyc specially, due to covid most apprehended criminals were typically let out the same or next day. So for a lot of cases we’re not pursued unless it was enough evidence and product stolen to charge with a felony and not a misdemeanor. And even then, most suspects were let go with a court date due to many of the new rules put in place. And they would come right back in to steal again.

None of these stats include individuals stealing shyt at self check out, tag switching, walk outs etc.
I know, I work there.

the internet
if you read that Twitter thread and actually believe there is conclusive evidence provided it says more about how well of a job our education system is doing.

Police theft data!? :heh:

like come on...
you have to realize there is more to it than that.

how often do you think shoplifting is reported?

what happens to foot traffic in areas where there are a lot of homelessness, crime etc...?
(it goes down)

THINK PEOPLE
it isnt some grand conspiracy
