It's always about the shareholders. If they ain't making the money that is projected they have to find a way to make the shareholders happy or in this case convince them you didn't screw up where you decided to locate a store.

Saying it's losing money due to theft doesn't preserve the stock price..... lost revenue is lost revenue, regardless of the reason

No but it buys them time to make it up. In one area they are closing a store due to "theft" and opening another approximately a mile away. Again they messed up with their gentrification predictions and need to buy time to make up for those losses.

If the stores ain't performing then say that. Must be tryna protect the stock price
I don't have the economics background to justify this feeling I have, but I'm convinced that for most publicly traded companies, running the business is antithetical to raising the stock price and they operate that way.

Seems to me if target (any publicly traded company) came out and said we're paying everyone 60k (still an "eeking-out existence livable wage") the amount of positive press coverage would get the computers puting but like I said, vanguard buyers, pension plan buyers, they aren't retail stock buyers and they'd be like hmm this is going to harm the bottom line, even though more people would go to target because they would be treating people with SOME dignity.

People take their money elsewhere.

I went into a Verizon store on Sunday, wanted to cop an otterbox. Guy was like

"69.99 for the otter box and 59.99 for a screen protector"

I Pulled up Amazon in his face and was like I'm good, they will drop off this same otterbox for 35 and a screen protector for 25 tomorrow.

The economy is failing. Thats why target is closing some of its stores. Bidens lies are finally being exposed. Its obviously. Go into any target and its not active like that. Amazon is running shyt.

Amazon is wooping their asses is what's happening. It ain't even about gentrification...it's the fact that they can't keep up.
Was having a convo with someone at work with how awful Amazon is as a company to the planet and labor but how great it is as a consumer. Nothing competes. I said it before but I was in target before Thanksgiving looking for an immersion blender Amd saw one I liked at a great price….immediately looked at Amazon and saw the same one for $10 less and it would be in my place within 4 hours. I didnt even bother with a price match. I waited an hour and a half for it:dead:Amazon is literally smacking stores AS I'M STANDING IN THEM!

Sometimes I’ll go to Target and walk around like :unimpressed: just to see what I’m about to order on Amazon.

It’s funny cause people will periodically lie to themselves and act like they want us to boycott Amazon. I just say good luck with that

The thing retail still has is the impulse buy. But the thing is when it comes to everything besides food and clothes...people don't really impulse buy those things. When you look at their revenue buy segment the shyt that makes damn near a 50% of all their revenue is beauty/household products and food. Things people impulse buy.

They'd do well to expand that and get rid of that weak ass electronics/books section. Cut kids/infant clothing down as well.
