Don’t want to get too deep into long screeds and what not here.I want to preface this by saying that I get where you're coming from. I do, I really do. So when I critique this point, I want you to know that I do get your position.
However, voting is not American Idol. It's not a popularity contest. It's not something you should do based on personality. It is NOT the responsibility of the candidate to make people like him or her personally. It is the responsibility of the VOTER to know what the fukk they're actually voting for.
So, if the voter doesn't take that responsibility, and then a nightmare SCOTUS strips their rights, it's not Hillary's fault that she just didn't make people like her enough. You could go to her website and see her positions on everything down the line, and there was so much media outside of the talking head bullshyt channels that laid out their positions on everything. The Scientific American comparison between their responses to key science questions, for example, should have been enough for any rational person to disqualify Trump immediately.
The fault lies in the voters, and now they're gonna get fukked. Those morons in Battle Creek, Michigan or Murfreesboro, Tennessee or wherever who were stupid enough to think that the GOP and Trump were interested in helping them out are gonna get fukked. The liberals in Berkeley and Soho who just couldn't see Hillary as anything but duplicitous and decided that voting Green was a good idea are gonna get fukked, too. And ultimately, the power lay with those people to stop this. It's their fault, and only their fault. This is especially true because the information they needed lay in one 45-minute scan through a bunch of policy articles and tweets on their cell phones. There was no excuse for these people to make such bad choices.
But this has been the political process since forever. Seriously even Ancient Rome Caesar’s rise and popularity came from the many festivals who would throw after returning from a war campaign and why he scared the equestrian classes by garnering the love and respect of the plebs. It’s not new. It’s ancient.
You’re going to have a wide chunk of voters from the wonky intelligent types to the casual observer who “just likes the guy “. You have to win them all and you can do this without being a brain dead showman. Obama successfully did that. Talked to people not only about issues they cared about but in a way that made people think he was sincere and not just following the latest focus group said would play well. Hillary no matter what your political leanings are definitely did not do the former and was definitely the latter.
That hurts you politically. It is what it is. This shouldn’t be a surprise or something new.
