I want to preface this by saying that I get where you're coming from. I do, I really do. So when I critique this point, I want you to know that I do get your position.

However, voting is not American Idol. It's not a popularity contest. It's not something you should do based on personality. It is NOT the responsibility of the candidate to make people like him or her personally. It is the responsibility of the VOTER to know what the fukk they're actually voting for.

So, if the voter doesn't take that responsibility, and then a nightmare SCOTUS strips their rights, it's not Hillary's fault that she just didn't make people like her enough. You could go to her website and see her positions on everything down the line, and there was so much media outside of the talking head bullshyt channels that laid out their positions on everything. The Scientific American comparison between their responses to key science questions, for example, should have been enough for any rational person to disqualify Trump immediately.

The fault lies in the voters, and now they're gonna get fukked. Those morons in Battle Creek, Michigan or Murfreesboro, Tennessee or wherever who were stupid enough to think that the GOP and Trump were interested in helping them out are gonna get fukked. The liberals in Berkeley and Soho who just couldn't see Hillary as anything but duplicitous and decided that voting Green was a good idea are gonna get fukked, too. And ultimately, the power lay with those people to stop this. It's their fault, and only their fault. This is especially true because the information they needed lay in one 45-minute scan through a bunch of policy articles and tweets on their cell phones. There was no excuse for these people to make such bad choices.
Don’t want to get too deep into long screeds and what not here.

But this has been the political process since forever. Seriously even Ancient Rome Caesar’s rise and popularity came from the many festivals who would throw after returning from a war campaign and why he scared the equestrian classes by garnering the love and respect of the plebs. It’s not new. It’s ancient.

You’re going to have a wide chunk of voters from the wonky intelligent types to the casual observer who “just likes the guy “. You have to win them all and you can do this without being a brain dead showman. Obama successfully did that. Talked to people not only about issues they cared about but in a way that made people think he was sincere and not just following the latest focus group said would play well. Hillary no matter what your political leanings are definitely did not do the former and was definitely the latter.

That hurts you politically. It is what it is. This shouldn’t be a surprise or something new.

So, we're having two different conversations here.

Look, I agree that the next Democratic candidate for POTUS should run a fifty-state strategy with the DNC and bust their asses doing as many events with voters as possible instead of just fund-raising.

That does NOT absolve the voters. No candidate should NEED to do that. Do you know why? Voters act like this is a game where they need to be coddled and get their dikks sucked and told how great and special they are and how everything is unfair for them and the candidate will fix it.

fukk that.

Voters shouldn't have to be led by the hand to making a simple, rational choice. Voting is a big fukking deal and the person you vote for will change your life and the lives of your kids and grandkids. If a voter's response to that is, "But Hillary didn't come personally talk to me and tell me that my job banging a wrench against a pipe is going to come back from Bangladesh and I'll make 90K a year doing it, and it's TOO HARD to go online and find out what she wants to do about jobs in America" then what can you say except that this voter shouldn't be allowed to vote because s/he is a fukking moron who can't or won't make adult choices.
This hits on my biggest gripe during elections. People act like voting or being informed is some huge hassle. Dude can max out 3 destiny players and get a nba2k18 my player to level 90 in the first week of launch, but don't have time to keep up with the elections that are going to affect them.

Here's the thing. I give zero fukks about people in rural iowa or Gary Indiana.
But Gary Indiana is a mostly black town that was decimated by the reduction in steel factories and the manufacturing sectors that employed many black folks and it’s not the only one. They have shared issues and it’s a issue that you can focus on without driving divisions and win votes. You don’t have to care about them but I’m sure you care about Trump getting another turn and possibly getting 3-4 Supreme Court Seats.

I agree here. That's the way that it was been and candidates rightfully get blame for not winning over the voters they need for their own ambitions. Still, we should be willing to call people out for being lazy. Actually, we should because having a more informed electorate would likely help us all.

We agree. The place where we disagree is whose fault it is. If the voter is petty or misinformed or racist or whatever, it's their fault. They pull the lever. The information is out there and freely available. If they choose not to partake of it and still vote, it's their fault for making a misinformed choice. If they get the info and are too ignorant to understand it, choose not to learn more, and still vote, it's their fault for making a misinformed choice.

That's the last I'll say on the matter.

Nah just not good enough to win in 2016 and we have trump. Perhaps it’s time we see where we went wrong and where we went right in the past and find a way to win again.

Otherwise all this crying about the latest trump outrage means shyt because at the end of the day he will get another term because democrats chose to lose.

I'm not running for office. My position is that I simply do not care about what they want. That's for politicians to speak on. I pick a candidate based on how they are personally going to affect me and things closer to my proximity. I don't play the who's more electable game when voting in primaries.

Did you vote for Trump?
Nope. Actually voted for Hillary in the primary and general for personal reasons and posted so on here. But I also realize in hindsight there were certain dynamics in play I didnt have appreciation for before hand and understand in the broader context of American society as a whole. Not just racial but how wealth inequality is probably the crux of all the issues we see in this society. Money and power intersection with politics is the evil for our society as a whole.

Also in retrospect I’ve soured on Hillary and become fond of Bernie based on their post election activities. I clearly see one who actually sincerely believes in their ideas and doing the leg work to show that and what I think is a blueprint to win and one who just gives speeches in their safe spaces and preaches to the choir and took a while to accept that they made some mistakes. I’m fully convinced now the centerist status quo politics are dead and do not win in the current climate. It’s over and dead.
If I could do it again I would have supported Bernie out the gate. But now I have a different perspective as a result of what candidates I look forward to vote for in the future.

The only candidate I trusted was Jill Stein. She was the only person who thought about giving reparations to black people.
Many people like to say that African Americans today don't deserve reparations because they were not enslaved. Anytime you hear a person say that, give them the...

"The holocaust survivors got reparations even though they were never ki11ed by Americans.":mjpls:
"Native Americans don't pay taxes, have free education, and get casinos even though they are not being attacked today.":mjpls:

"The Japanese got reparations and heck even the slave masters got reparations, but African Americans can't get reparations after slavery, Jim Crow, War on drugs, school to prison pipeline, and police brutality?":mjpls:
