I won’t do squats unless it’s moderately light weight. Like if I’m waiting for a machine I may squat 185 for a set or two just to keep warm.

I’m tall so it’s difficult to squat with great form and feel my quads. I suppose I could front squat but I don’t see the point. If I can get quad stimulation from leg press or hack squats and leg extensions, that’s enough. There’s no rule that says you need to do any exercise.

Ronnie’s injuries are almost certainly from the heavy loads. Not any particular exercise.

He’s still the king tho. Yeah buddy.

If you can squat, you need to squat. It’s the easiest way to load the leg and lower back. King of the lower body for a reason.

Having said that, there’s no need to squat extremely heavy for years on top of injuries like Ronnie did. Most average ppl can squat moderate to heavy just fine with proper mechanics, nutrition, and rest.

You don’t have to squat if you really don’t want to, it’s just harder to add load at a certain point. There’s machines and variations that can stimulate all the same muscles but not everyone has the body structure or equipment to do them

Personally, I been doing way more heel elevated goblets, Bulgarians, single leg elevations, front squats than back squats. Seeing a lot more gains right now. Trying to build back up my base before I go heavy again

:dahell:Botched back surgeries? I am 99.999999999% sure it has more to do with him rushing back to lifting every chance he got. Man wrecked himself and should have been taking it easy for years. He was getting it in whenever possible. I am also sure he wants no one to feel bad for him cause he is all smiles and admits he fukked himself. Asked about his regrets and they almost always center around not getting extra reps on a lift. He lived how he wanted and now lives how he can.
I feel like I saw an interview and they asked if he feels bitter about what lifting has done to him. He said naw im about to lift again tomorrow. Mind you this is after the surgeries :dead:

Damn, what if folks go light on the deadlift and squats, and more reps instead? Still not worth it? I like it for posture.

Don't listen to these scurred folk here, they just wanna skip leg day :martin: squat at your range with proper form...ain't nobody puttin up Ronnie Coleman numbers in here to even risk getting bruck up unless their form is shyt :camby:

he's had like 10 back surgeries or some shyt

also he was squatting 800lbs with a back that had been injured since his high school football playing days so I don't think it's an excuse for regular degular dudes to not lift lol
And from everyone that I’ve known that has had back surgery, one is too many because once you have one, there’s more to follow, and it’s a matter of time before they botch one of them.

Y’all see OLD nikkaS in the trades with the fukked up backs and mobility issues due to bending over and excessive lifting but don’t think that will happen with you from doing the same but just in the gym?:mjlol:

I don't do squats no more, the potential wear and tear on your spine isn't worth it. The most I'll do is leg presses and lunges now as far as weight. I still do box jumps and jump squats but, my back feels brand new after I left squats in the bushes. I didn't even realize how much netter I'd feel until I stopped. I got that advice from a football player that's in the league right now. He basically said, the only injuries he had was from doing squats and that was to his knees and lower back so he adjusted his workouts and eliminated and was able to still keep his leg strength and drive by supplementing squats with other excercises.
