I watched the first episode of top boy. They were robbing each other without masks and going about their day. I couldn't take it seriously because that's about as unreal as it gets. Omar was living like Saddam Hussein in the hole for his robbery lifestyle. These guys were getting robbed by cats they knew.

I remember the summer before I started in Vanderbilt, i was at the University of Memphis for a pre-college black engineering program (TLSAMP for those interested).
The other kids there (all black) who were all going to be engineers were bragging about how they were happy that we're in one of the most violent cities. You had these nerds talking about going to corner and playing dice and how if someone tried to rob them they were strapped.

We were there to ensure that more black engineers would graduate from college, shyt was a little depressing.

Thats the sad thing. These type of UK dramas only seem to get given a mainstream platform if they're written by white people.

Whenever black people write or make them they'll only ever see Youtube views.

You should check out Circle Of Revenge on youtube....basically the London/UK version of Money & Violence (It actually came out before M&V, may have even been an influence).....as in same production values and very amateur, but still quite good. A lot of people over here prefer it to Top Boy.
