Don’t Be Like He-Man
Ok so.... to me...
Lupe Fiasco is not necessarily very close to perfection but rather capable of it.
After Tetsuo and Pharaoh Height I think we are seeing the evolution of Lupe, so hopefully he'll get that title.
Why perfect?
Flow, songwriting, designing good song structure, topics, lyrics, metaphors. going off the top freestyling, microphone presence, video presence etc...
He not only mastered flow, he's mastered SEVERAL FLOWS!!!!
He's mastered almost every single one of them, that does make him the most all around complete artist compared to anyone else in music history.
But he can be too complex for his own good and beat selection. Those are his biggest weaknesses.
He said he'll never dumb it down, but don't over-Einstein it either.
Or at least one complex CD and then one not too complex CD but instead of complex bars you can replace it with complex philosophical topics. I think that would be amazing for Lu!
Now, Lloyd Banks.
He's definitely talented, absolutely zero question there.
But flow, great flow but he's got only one of them
in terms of delivery Officer Down was the most different I've ever heard Banks.
Amazing lyricist, songs can often have conceptual one-topic verses throughout the entire song, which is good and shows talent, pretty good at beat selection but him having a better budget would be great but that's not his fault of course.
Lyrically he's great, hip hop song making skills is there too, no doubt.
His biggest weakness is his sheer lack of versatility, no matter how different one song topic/theme is from the other the flow will always remain incredibly similar to one another.
So.... who is better?
Banks or Lupe?
