I mean, anything about him: his positive rep, his sig, his illiterate, word gumbo posting style, his insistence on signing every post, the fact that he disappears frequently enough for me to forget he exists until randomly popping up on some trash thread... what am I missing here?

I think this is a reflection on Stevens ability to mix and match to create favorable matchups... and Ainge catering to the strengths of his coach as well as perceived weakness in the league team wide in roster building.They dont have many "protypical" sized players. They have guys with specific skills that are much better as a cumulative group rather than just being guys in a standard 8-9 man rotation with typical minute distributions.
Stevens carried Butler to borderline historic success for a small school and has been recently certified as an in-game wizard. While we have tried to get stars, we have had to settle for solid role players and depth..most of whom are coachable and do not overwhelm (at all) with athleticism. Just craftiness. Ainge has had a fascination with drafting combo guards (most of which have been wack)..but has recently gotten guys who rely moreso on intangibles and being clever. Both of which are traits that he exhibited in his playing days. Not sure about Amir in that regard..Lee, however, is skilled in the post and mid-range and gets by on IQ. Same goes for Isaiah Thomas..who is forced to be unique and clever in order to score due to his stature. Celts were wildly successful with their group of guys last year post ASB and a lot of it has to do with getting guys to play roles that maximize their potential with a variety of different lineups based on analytics and metrics in order to counter-punch the more static lineups they face. If Jones remains a Celtic (instead of being re-routed in trade), I expect him to be used similarly..with guys who can slash..and post scoring options who can also step out and hit a J once in a while, thus allowing Jones to have spacing, face quick pased 1 on 1s and be given ample time to score rather than Brooks' antiquated system which was stagnant and purely ISO reliant. It should be noted that Jones may not have had enough of a PT sample size under Brooks to properly gauge but he can obviously put up #'s. I wanted him in the draft.
I thought he'd be a beast. Nellie buried the shyt out of him. He showed a lot of promise and had flashes in GS then disappeared. I think he came around a few years too early.
