All from prestis press conference

Some notes:
- thinks that the future of the thunder is Russ/PG/Adams/Roberson
- Billy D is a good coach and it's not his fault that the thunder roster has changed every seasons he's been here
- is ok with Melos frustration and comments and since he's being honest with the front office , they will be honest with melo (aka will tell him he's coming off the bench) and then melo can decide if that's a right fit for him or not
- has had discussion with PG and that they have been good and is confident that PG will stay
Roberson... I would leave if they keep him.. He's so bad in offense they will never win shyt with him.

How? Melo has all the leverage
Not if he wants to start.

They can sit him at the end of the bench and he can sit and pout all he wants. Inevitably the team will turn against that pocket watcher.

And to answer other question. Can the NBA/Thunder fine him for refusing to come in? I would think so, but there have not been many instances of this happening. I don't remember what happened between Marbury/D'Antoni but that was the last I ever heard of some shyt like that.

ehhh PG definitely leaving. he's doing what all free agents do and telling them what they want to hear. he's gone though because the thunder really can't improve the roster because of the cap situation.... and they are keeping donovan so it would just be the same thing all over again.

Melo still has all the leverage. OKC is not paying a player 28 mill to ride the bench

Essentially that is what they are saying with all the back and forth. It's inevitable that either Melo comes off the bench and swallow his pride or accept a buyout. I can't imagine any scenario of Melo starting for this team next season.

Personally I think I would just get rid of that loser and eat the 28 million over 3 years if it can guarantee PG13 stays.

You would be surprised. They might resent Melo enough where will say well fukk it. PG is definitely gone.

This team only spent money this year because they wanted Russ to sign the supermax. This team has been inexplicably cheap since its inception.

Melo will start next year if he opts in and they will be under the cap.

You know the more I think about it I would try to stretch for a buy out and take the hit this year IF PG is guaranteed to return. Maybe save a little money, keep PG and Westbrook and then move forward.

Melo should be able to recoup the rest somewhere else.

I still think PG is gone though so this is all speculation from everyone at this point.

he has to keep that super max option open. will be stupid otherwise

Especially with the injury history. I was thinking he could swing a sign and trade but that may be off the table

No one has “all the leverage” without a trade clause. A breh in the other Melo thread already explained how OKC can waive Melo without too hard a cap hit. He doesn’t have a NTC anymore in case they wanted to go that route (I think)

the problem for the thunder is that presti made desperate moves and only cared to get westbrook to sign to save himself. He lost Durant and harden for barely anything and westbrook leaving would have killed his career as GM. So he did what any desperate GM would do and make trades that are detrimental for the future but looks good on the current year.

By trading for a year rental, Presti showed westbrook that he wants to win, and westbrook dumb enough fell for it. PG is gone, Melo is a black hole with a horrible contract and will opt in unless he really wants to win a ring.

OKC has no prospects, late draft pick and no cap space. They are going to lose Grant cause they won't be able to afford him even if pg stays or not. The bench is laughingly bad. They have no star to come off the bench. They have paterson, felton, abrines, huestis as their bench guys. So pretty much a bunch of nobodies coming off the bench.

And to top it all off, they are sticking with Donovan cause they have no other choice. They don't want to pay two coaches and are willing to ride him till his contract ends.
