Jordan played in a FAR more difficult era of the NBA, players were better; more skillful. Defense was tougher due to multiple factors like hand-checking, the refs not calling fouls on breathing on someone wrong, players weren't thrown out for "hard" fouls etc. Jordan had a skill set that is approximately 6x that of LeBron "Bulldoze down da lane" James. LeBron James plays in a league where there's only about 6-8 competitive teams COMBINED between the two conferences. LeBron is physically superior to Michael Jordan but produces far less. The 90's Sonics, Hawks, Heat, Knicks, Pistons, Pacers, Jazz, Rockets, Magic, Bucks, Spurs, Suns, Trailblazers etc. would all rape James' championship Heat team. And I'm only naming some teams from the 90's :sas2: Don't want this post to be too long.

I forgot to add, Lebron looks BETTER in this era because it's weaker. He'd look WORSE in the era Jordan played with. So he gets a handicap in this aspect.

Jordan was far superior mentally not skill set or physically. Only thing is, that the game is 99% mental.

On a side note pretty much everyone I talk to these days is in agreement that Curry is the best player in the NBA :banderas:

Lebron ain't even in the "next jordan" conversation anymore :manny:

they 4th and 5th on my list. i dont think a prime bill russell could guard a prime hakeem, nor prime shaq, nor prime KAJ.

i dont think its his fault, i think the position had evolved so much during the 80s that those guys just had a skill set russell would not have been able to guard. plus the size difference was crazy. no way a 6'9, 215lb russell can guard a 7'1 315lb shaq.
You make a good point but isn't it more common for players' height to overbilled since the 80s?

i find it interesting how lebron's name stays in these cats mouth. in one breath they diminish his how great of a player he is in comparison to their era, in the next breath they say he's one of the greatest players of this era and he'll be in the hof.

the simple fact is lebron might end up breaking a lot of the records set by the greats before him when it's all said and done. maybe they feel some kind of way about that, but they don't need to. records are meant to be broken and it doesn't diminish their greatness.

there was a comment made about lebron being coachable and respecting his coach. every player of that caliber had the same thing said about them. one factor to consider is lebron has never been paired with a coach who had a pre-existing championship pedigree. that said i think he does ok with the cavs coaches under the circumstances, but coming from a championship organization like miami, cleveland is obviously a struggle for him.

as for jordan being a better player, it's not even really worth discussion because everyone knows that. maybe dream was saying that more for the 90s babies more than anything else.
