I didn't grow up learning about Lucy Parsons and the Haymarket riot, but she's one of the reasons we have an 8hr work day.

And she was a black woman. This seems to be the pattern. When bosses think workers have gotten too many rights they start working hard to claw that shyt back. They don't want us working 8hrs and having weekends and holidays off. I won't be surprised if they are actively working right now to try and make it so that a minimum wage is off the books and if they feel like it, they can pay you 3 dollars an hour and offer you only 12hr shifts.
