I remember being a kid back then.In my neck of the woods, I you'd see grown folks sporting

MC Hammer & Janet Jackson "Rhythm Nation" hats.

The MC Hammer hat looked exactly like that ^^^^^^

Just had "MC Hammer" embroiled across it.He was huge at the time.

I'll never forget those times.Janet, Hammer, Keith Sweat, and Babyface(Whip Appeal era)

was the soundtrack to my block.I was just a lil 1st grader playing Mike Tyson Punch Out

and Ninja Gaiden on the NES.The good ol days:mjcry:

44 bricks...acre shaker
He was a mainstream artist that danced and showed teeth all the time. Real heads laughed at him.
Laughed but didn’t want hammer problems

Hammer was also with one of the biggest athletes in the game

Real heads everything main stream but dreamed to be in his shoes

You mean real hip hop heads? Hammer was real even though the music wasn't all that.

Yup i heard rappers tellin story abt hammer

Dude was abt that life

I wouldn't say he was "about that life" he was just a meal ticket for a lot of people so he had a lot of goons at his disposal.

The best example of this is him trying to pay off Crips to fukk up 3rd Bass and an OG (Mike Concepcion) squashing that shyt with a phone call. Money can only get you so far in those kinds of situations.

He was elementary rap, guys like Will Smith and Kris Kross ect...for the kids.

At a certain point, you were SUPPOSED to hate that kind of stuff. Now, you got 4/5 year olds listening to the same shyt adults listen to.

Hammer was wack but he was a necessary wackness.

Wanted one of those metal hats so bad. I was in the first grade too

I bet you if you ask people over 30 what the first hip hop album they ever owned was, the most popular answer would be Please Hammer Don't Hurt Em. My mom had us listening to "Pray" and she was an immigrant not even into music...

Shout out to 2 Bigg MC, No Bones and Oaktown 357

300 murders a year
dude was MAJOR. hammer pants, typewriter, songs that dominated the charts, sold out tours, had his own cartoon, merchandise, etc. heavy radio spins,

1st time we hear of a rap artist selling 10 million damn records. mc hammer was legit the 1st rap mega star. closest was maybe ll cool j, but i dont think cool j had the cross over success mc hammer had. dude was right there with new kids on the block level of popularity.
