Yes and no, he has some skill as well as his physical gifts but he was so far ahead of most of his competition. Maybe poor was an overstatement, but the NFL especially in the early to mid-80s was a whole different beast from the college to pro game, I suppose the sample size wasn't really large enough in the grand scheme of things but based on having watched years of NFL football by the mid 80's even if completely healthy I don't know if he had the makeup to make a real career for himself be it lack of drive or just resting on his laurels, I just don't think he had the makeup to succeed at the top level.

You described NOTHING that entails football iq for you to say he lacks it.

Dude seemed to know when to use his power and when to be elusive. That equals football iq. Nothing you stated speaks on his iq as a player. Even on that punt return against Colorado, the way he set up one defender by sidestepping him was steeped in high football iq as a runner. You have no idea what you're talking about using "football iq." He had a high football iq as a runner

Let's keep it funky you are going by highlights I was watching in real time, what you are seeing is flashes of greatness, he wasn't like that all the time and he wasn't as good as Bo Jackson or Eric dikkerson, NFL careers aside. He was a great talent but even if he didn't twist up he knee he would have flamed out. were a very solid team when dude came in. Like I said dude was an incredible physical specimen but it takes so much more to make it in the long term. I think you and I have different definitions of IQ, what you are mentioning is instincts, as I would define it. IQ is built through playing, practice and discipline, things that the dude did not really possess, furthermore it's something you don't have to develop, when you are that physically gifted. I think he would have used his athleticism (and this is just speculation as you doing since again his sample size is so small) to carry himself to the pros where it would have helped him less and he would have been exposed.

:dahell: you could practice your entire life and have no football iq. You either have it or you don't as a runner. He was great at setting up blockers and knew when to be patient. That is football iq.

Brandon Jacobs, the man you compared him to, is that type of runner? :rudy:

Marcus Allen is a high football iq player. Walter Payton was a high football iq player. You compared him to Bradion Jacobs?

What the hell??

I was really going from a physical standpoint with the Jacobs comparison and also the injuries that slowed dude down.
