New Hip Hop is crap. Compared to Jazz old Hip Hop is crap. Compared to Classical, Jazz is crap. (depending on who's judging).
Bottom line: you are gonna like what you grew up on. I love Run DMC. A fifteen year old thinks Run DMC sounds like mentally retarded people. Likewise, Kurtis Blow was a little before my time and I ain't really feeling it. Some of those 15 minute live instrument rap songs from like 1980: forget it. Unlistenable to me.
Having said that: I would never listen to anything made after about 2002 while riding around or just vibing at the crib, BUT I have really come to appreciate the danceability of new shyt when drunk and skirt chasing. So much so that I can't remember how to really dance to the 90s shyt that well. It's the tempo.
