It is an absolute necessity that the new generation adopt a posture that makes the previous generation uncomfortable. Do you nig nogs remember what 'old heads' had to say about Run DMC? If Inrecall correctly Prince Rogers Nelson actively shytted on Hip Hop as a whole early on.

Actually, if we :flabbynsick: nikkas LIKED what the kids were doing they would promptly find some new shyt. They would keep fleeing from us until they found a place that we wouldn't go.

New Hip Hop is crap. Compared to Jazz old Hip Hop is crap. Compared to Classical, Jazz is crap. (depending on who's judging).

Bottom line: you are gonna like what you grew up on. I love Run DMC. A fifteen year old thinks Run DMC sounds like mentally retarded people. Likewise, Kurtis Blow was a little before my time and I ain't really feeling it. Some of those 15 minute live instrument rap songs from like 1980: forget it. Unlistenable to me.

Having said that: I would never listen to anything made after about 2002 while riding around or just vibing at the crib, BUT I have really come to appreciate the danceability of new shyt when drunk and skirt chasing. So much so that I can't remember how to really dance to the 90s shyt that well. It's the tempo.

You get what I'm saying breh...

And what we're saying went over 90 percent of the coli's head!

nikkas now to busy trying to bump what everyone else is pumpin. We can see it from this forum when Gucc or Ross drop. Everyone is dling it that night and giving praise. Myself...I pass mostly cos everyone else is on it. That's hip hop...I don't want what EVERYONE else listening too...I school nikkas, not follow the crowd. That's going back to the "No crossover" era of hip hop.

And don't get me wrong, I have plenty of Guch, but my guests won't hear it. They gonna hear something they prob never heard cos they not into hip hop like that.

We need more nikkas like me and you...

Actually we need to make subtitles for this other rap so people can know the difference. We dropped the ball when we allowed rap to be mixed in with hip hop.

:blessed:

I can't even compound on this. again you hit the nail on the head. I kno friends and family that play ross/gucci/waka/wayne etc all day but when I start playin it was written and doe or die they wanna only play songs from there then a hour later we end up bac at meek millz.

its like even the reminiscin can last so long. I told my boy the other day what's wrong is nggaz that know better but still get caught in the b.s.

ex crate diggers I kno bumpin jeezy but tellin me KRS ain't put out music in years. its like hiphop armeggedon, we truly the lasts of a dying breed.

since it got nice out I herd a few heads playin wutang forever, I am, ready to die and illmatic. while in washington heights today I herd "party & bullsh!t" comin out somebody apartment and somebody else drove by playin busta rhymes "rhymes galore"

if my cuzin gets this DJn gig at this strip joint ima have these broads strippin and twerkin to noreaga, 2live crew and LL cool j and sh!t like that

Ya know a lot a nikkas won't admit it, and will get mad for being called out for it....but most nikkas have traded in their hip hop to simp these hoes. Straight up!

They wonna play what these hoes like to hear...I mean it's the only reason I can think a grown ass man would pump some of the shyt I hear.

My era...we had them hoes poppin and twerkin to some gangsta shyt. bytch got in the car and BETT NOT TOUCH the radio! I'm from where nikkas kept a tape in their pocket for when they were riding with someone known for playing wack music. I'm from when, nikkas apologized too you if their guilty bullshyt pleasures happened to be the next cd in the disc changer and you accidentally heard some MC Squirrel shyt.

Every nikka had some bullshyt in his tape/cd collection but he'd damn near fight you if you got close to seeing it :bryan:.

What era are you from breh?

cause the dude who fathered that "play what the girls like, cause dudes like girls"...came from your era.

Hell, LL Cool J made a career out of rapping to bytches about how he could "love a bytch better than the next dude" and all that simp shyt.

let's keep it 100, the rappers from your era, set the precedent for what rap is today... it's not like new nikkas grabbed ahold of it, and ran it into the group.

For every I need Love, Hey Lover, Loungin, That nikka had a Break of Dawn, Mama Said Knock You OUt, Who Shot Ya, or 4,3,2,1, letting cats know he aint soft and he can go toe to toe on the mic with a dude who get wreckless. LL shouldn't be compared to the cake ass nikkas of this era

32. i listen to new music differently now, much more casual about it. i used to obsessively follow all the new releases back in the day & had strong opinions about this or that.

but now music's much more available, i'm not that hard up for entertainment so i don't really care. 100% agree that its a youth movement, music's supposed to evolve with new styles. i'm glad old farts aren't dictating what's going on. i don't want to hear 90's knockoffs & watered down versions of Beatnuts or whoever.

and i feel like alot of old artists get overrated while new ones get a bum rap. there's plenty of good/interesting artists out there. some of you go way out of your way just to hate on shyt. typical internet nonsense

im in my early 30's, but im the "3-time-felon-that-turned-his-life-around-working-a 9-5 but still-a-street-nikka-at-heart" 30 yr old, lol,so i still fukk wit rap & listen to some of the shyt these young guys from my city puttin out, mainly becuz i relate to & understand where they comin from...but at the sametime,i still feel most of this shyt, along with the rest of hiphop, is trash nowadays..

but i never really been a r&b dude, definitely dont fukk wit rock n roll, & you can keep that jazz & blues shyt too..im'ma always fukk wit rap until my dying day, just as long as its some street shyt coming out..

Its a lack of respect for the culture...listen to the older cats and how they talk about those who came before...whether its moe dee bigging up melle mel or a nas and wu tang showing love to rakim.g rap or the juice crew...remember when the source did the issue back in the day with bambatta flash and kool herc on the cover...there was a feeling of I need to understand the history of this music I love..now cats will diss a Pioneer like it ain't nothing...it has hurt the artform

They call that 'name dropping' today. See: The Game
