Finesse sues mac miller for using one of his beats on a free tape. This basically equates to not clearing a sample. Therefore, if he wins, mixtapes will now need sample clearance.




---> all these up and coming producers and rappers can't pay for sample clearance so no more mixtapes with sample based beats. and you can forget the "mixtape" where you're going over popular beats.


for example this:

I find this all so strange...wiz went over a pharcyde beat...lil wayne made his come up off of it...but now it's a problem? Strange...very strange.

That's the thing, any hip hop head KNOWS that's a j dilla beat wiz went over and a finesse beat for mac...like come on man.


and i can't stress this enough, THIS IS NOT EVEN ABOUT GOING OVER OTHER RAPPERS BEATS. This will set a precedent for sample clearance for FREE tapes.

I know, but the way these mixtapes were being reviewed and played all over, it was bound for the original producers to want their cut or homage or whatever they're complaining about.
