-The suit was because miller was performing these songs in concert. :stopitslime: your making money off their work and now you wanna be cute about it.

-Let them have their music. It will just force artist to be more creative and use original production. Samples aren't even needed anymore. They can afford instruments, studio, even to make your own music is easy as fukk nowadays. Not like before where they were forced to use old records.

the 1st hip hop song ever made was sampled :aicmon:

For sure but my main worry is beats that sample things that simply just couldn't get cleared for monetary reasons or what have you. Like the lloyd banks song I posted on the first page. Radiohead probably wouldn't even entertain a negotiation for that sample and if they did it would be $$$$$$$$. I know i said it a million times but the issue with "freestyles" should be dealt with, I agree with that. The issue is that sets a new standard of sample clearance and that's going to fukk up all these free albums we've been calling mixtapes for the past seven years.

I would weigh whether fukking up the current state of hip hop was worth going at a "corny ass". And please...I never even heard this mac miller song he didn't come up off it. It's interesting he came up off "nikes on my feet" which has a nas sample...why didn't nas sue him?

I'm strictly mad that it's an old ass rapper instead of a CAC who doesn't understand or love the rap game. In the end all these dudes need to start doing is asking the artists if it's alright. The hard thing about is that you need lawyers, economists and shyt to value a certain song and bla bla label this, label that. For a free song that these dudes are dropping on twitter.

It's too much hazle for a lil mixtape like this, now for Rich Forever and big mixtapes like that it's worth the effort and money.

thats the thing. lord finesse is a hip hop vet. he KNOWS how the game works...and how the mixtapes have worked forever. but one day out of the blue he decides he wants a slice, even though people have been taking his beats and rapping over them FOREVER.

Mac is dumb for going around and performing it...keep it on the tape. perform your album cuts.

but finesse is opening the door for everybody else to start suing all these rappers

If you don't want to take the 2 minutes it would take to research why finesse is doing this...

I guess it is easier to just say finesse is washed up and bitter

I will say this..its foolish to side with someone just because they are young..especially when they're playing little kid games essentially forcing finesse hands

This is Tricky I'm on the fence

Mixtapes are basically albums now, if you got a hit single on your mixtape more then likely it will make it to radio and you will perform it at your shows or even put it on your studio album

For a starving artist trying to come up I say let them live accept the homage. If your established or rapping about making money, selling drugs killing people ect ect pay up homie cause according to your rhymes your RICH....

Yeah
They came after kanye to for his mixtapes before college dropout.

nikkas are petty :pacspit:

I don't agree with performing the song but I don't think its fair to sue them if they never realesed the song or performed it for compensation.

you guys really think that a creative producer won't find a way to either re work a beat by playing the sample...or do an interpretation like Family Guy does with Star Wars references.

Such dummies...

Stop crying Chicken LIttle...the sky and falling. mixtapes will still be there. And it's time for these young cats to find a way to be more ucking creative.

OR...if you gonna take old music. Do it like Elzhi (Elmatic) did or 50 (Sincerely Yours) and just go ape isht with and don't try to be cute!

By playing the sample? An interpolation? Can you explain a little more because everything you described would need sample clearance. Family Guy can do that because it's satire and protected by law.

Then instead of chastising us in this thread, how about you enlighten us as to why LF is doing this... Ol "I know something you don't know" faceass
