djs talking over the record is how it all started...back in the days the dj was the show not the mc...so they would talk all in the break beats and have the party rocking...but these mixtape dj's need to shut the fukk up though

At what point in hiphop history did DJs start talking so damn much? It wasn't always like that was it? I'm riding to atl and listening to the radio and this nikka got more bars than the artists. then i go to a party and these nikkas dont shut the fukk up. stop the record every 4 seconds to say some bullshyt.
I thought DJs job was to spin the records and shut the fukk up. I thought JMJ was a mute. I don't remember Eric B saying anything. when did that change and who started that shyt.

it's a MARKETING SCHEME....

the DEEJAY was usually the SILENT one who "SPOKE WITH HIS HANDS"......

but in order for a DEEJAY to stay RELEVENT in today's market

he has to have a "voice" to PROMOTE his BRAND....

Funkmaster Flex USE to be silent ....before he realize that RADIO PERSONALTIES make more $$$ AND are likely to have a CAREER as opposed to just a dude spinning records and letting somebody else do the talking...

that's why you see him GOSSIPING like a byatch and giving his opinion on everything from how much he don't like Tupac to Global Warming.....

and yes it's disgusting...because he like most of these cats LOSE THE BALANCE...

i don't mind the TALKING as long as the SKILL SET is still strong.....

but FLEX like most of these dudes become LIVING BLOGS instead of sticking to thier DAY JOB....

which is breaking new artists and records and giving an entertaining mix...

but that's what happens when PAYOLA, PAY FOR PLAY, CORPORATE SPONSERSHIP and EXTORTION comes into PLAY.....
