Ron g would talk but:

Djs talking all over tracks as we know it came from DJ Clue. He did that because other djs would jack exclusives from his tapes and put em on theirs. That's why you always hear clue on his tapes. Theres no need for it now.

arent you that guy that got exposed as a kid touching pervert creep on SOHH

You have me mistaken with someone else.......I was the guy who went to numerous SOHH e thugs homes with a video camera hoping for a Worldstar moment that never happened. None of those e thugs ever would come out of their homes by the way. I still have some of that video footage.

Ya'll dont know the history.

Brucie Bee was talking all over mixtapes in the early 80's. Thats what Brucie Bee was known for. And Kid Capri and S&S were doing it way before Clue.

son its ALWAYS been like that.. i can VIVIDLY remember a DJ S&S mixtape .. it had "come on mutha fukka" sadat x feat Big.. fam.. he talkled throw the WHOLE fukkin tape :pachaha:

They are the ones who started it. Before that the Dj talked once in a while to give shout outs. I remember playing a DJ S&S tape, getting blazed and an old head kept complaining saying "why doesn't he shut up?. He's fukking up the song." shyt was funny to me.

So I say it started with DooWop, S&S, Craig G, and clue.

Yeah but they weren't doing it like it is now. Even with clue and S&S. After '95 that shyt started getting out of hand, yet it made the tape more unique to me, so if clue and S&S did it, I didn't mind. S&S and DooWop, did it right to me because they vibed with the music. Other DJ's just talk so people will know whose tape it is.

Now its all about branding... Every dj, producer, group has some stupid tagline.. Never hear primo screaming his name all over a track... Cuz he has a signature sound..

The Coli's 420th member
in the mixtape era as we know it, yes he did.

them G unit Radio series was one of the most popular ones ever... and that nikka was all over them.

who did you think these newer DJ's got that shyt from?

Even prior to the G-Unit tapes when he would put out mixtapes with Stretch Armstrong it would be tagged with the whoooooo kid shyt. He didn't talk as much because he was a crate carrier at that time it seemed but his shyt was always tagged.

The DJs were talking over records more and more once the Internet got popular because they didn't want people to take their exclusives and pass them off as their own.

Me personally i never cared nor do I still care about DJ's shouting over tracks. If I'm not mistaken 1 of the reasons for all that DJ shouting all over the songs thing was to throw off any bootlegging. Also, DJ's didnt want other DJ's claiming their stuff

Speaking of Doo Wop, I remember when the whole NYC swore Snagglepuss was gonna be that next dude. Dude had a Canibus like buzz from them Doo Wop tapes.

nikkas said Clue... and fukkin' Whoo Kid

That was the sound of the NY mixtape for as long as it dates back... as someone else said Kid Capri, and before him Brucie B...waaaay before Clue, and especially before Whoo Kid.

And it's because that's how it was in the clubs as well. DJ's at parties had to have a specific personality, rather than just play music, so the talking/shoutouts/adlibs gave them their own identity. So then it made them stars because they weren't just nameless, faceless people playing music. And back in the day, the tapes DJs used to sell were the ones they recorded live at the parties they played... so you heard all the talking and shoutouts on the tapes. Then, people would pay the DJs to make tapes, and they would do em the same way they did in the clubs.

Now the shyt I don't get... is that nikkas like Mister Cee play on the radio and do the same shyt. And he'll take it a step further, muting the music every time he cuts in... and it'll be allllll over the damn song. Cutting all in the middle of a verse to say Hot97's phone number 'nshyt. :what:
