I remember seeing "My Name Is" on Yo! MTV Raps the first time and I thought the shyt was a joke. I don't even remember how old I was then, maybe 12 or 13 or so but my brother and I seriously thought it was some troll shyt.

Yo was cancelled in 1995. My Name Is was released in 1999.

They had "special" showings of Yo! since then; hell, they still did up until at least 2008, which is the last time I think I had MTVJamz the station. Yo! stopped being a regular show in 1995 I guess.

I often wonder this too. This was well before white people rapping had become widely mainstream. Sure there was beastie boys, but they played instruments and half their music was punk rock (their biggest hit having only 4 bar rock verses)...then this white guy spitting full rap verses with no rock influence comes in with the dre cosign
