Man I swear being born in 94, when i was a lil nikka, every nikka in my family had some type of hustle. I thought that it was normal. MY pops was a dope boy, my unc ran guns, my other uncs and they friends robbed banks. I thought that shyt was a right to passage
Until I got just a lil older and literally every single last one of them was in jail for 10+ years

ok me n my then bestie was in the 8th grade this is early 90s mighta been 89. this dude told us about a party in lake highlands, so we caught the bus, we stayed off of walton walker (loop12 near jefferson) but then when we got there we couldnt find the party n the buses had pretty much stopped running.
So we decided to find us a ride home clear on the otherside of town. There were no cellphones back then so we couldnt just call a cab n run off on em. So we walked all the way from lake highlands to buckner. There was this gas station still open and we cried to the dude working and was like we were stuck n needed a ride home. He asked where yall stay,we said loop 12,we were on buckner so it wasnt really a lie,so he agreed to take us home,but we stayed on the other side of loop 12. so we get inhis truck andhe driving along loop 12 n kept asking how much further and we didnt wanna tell him on the complete othersideof loop 12 cuz he might nota took us all the way home. finally we get to our side of loop 12 and we pullup in the apts. we tell him we finna go in the house n get some $$ from our mom to pay him for bringing us home. we ran up the stairs n down the backstairs n thru the apts....dont hitchhike kids...we coulda been kidnapped.

one day in the same area we was walking thru the woods n came across a body...i think we were in like the 6th grade...shyt scared tf out of us cuz apparently we all knew who put the body there.
then one time in the 9th grade i was skippin school with this nicca walking thru them same woods n the dopebois saw us..the nicca i was with had a clean ass paco suit on. so we pay the dopebois no mind. we get to my apt n not even 10 mins later its a knock on the door n my dumb ass answered it. nicca named norris had a sawedoff 12 gauge pointed at me n told me dont say nothing but tell o boy with the paco suit to come to the door n my dumb ass did.nicca made my friend strip butt ass nekkd n robbed him for his paco suit. i still see the nicca around the hood n ion think he ever recovered from that. i had to give him some of my momas boyfriend clothes to wear home

Truththese kids will literally never know how active the blocks and parks were with other kids playing sports.. america being obese now is probably a direct reflection of people not going outside and being active anymore..
outside of nintendo and sega there was very little reason to be in the house.. if it was hot, we went to the community pool.. if it was cold we played basketball at a community center..
shyt kids being in multiple sports was common back then.. I played soccer, basketball, football and baseball year round in actual leagues.. sometimes the kids on my football team would also be on my soccer, basketball or baseball team or i would be playing against them..
now kids just seem to be into 1 sport for the most part if they are into a sport at all..
do kids even sleep over at other kids house anymoreor they dont need to anymore because they can just hop on ps4 with head sets and shyt
thats just the activity part.. I dont even want to get into the social part of how internet ruined everything.. nothing is personal anymore pretty much. I am in one of the most social jobs possible - if not the most social job possible.. I mean my ENTIRE job is talking to people and getting them to the clubs and even once monday hits, I dont have a reason to talk to anyone outside of the people I lift with
