The difference is that the last pic OP posted is stage gear.....What OP failed to mention was that Bambatta pointed out a long time ago that when they went on stage they were competeting in the early 80's with Funkadelic and Zapp so thats where the stage gear of choice came from. So The Furious Five were just doing funk.

Lil Wayne aint doing Funk.

I see a perm and jheri curls which was popping back then.....
