Okoro could have the same impact as Marcus Smart. Solid player and a strong defender. We need athletes and he's a throwback NY guy. I want to see someone go at it on defense and harass people.

My Pops Forever RIP
:whoa:

#1 and James Johnson

for

#8, #27, Knox and Randle.

KAT, Culver, Okogie, DLo, Yall are good at the 5, 3, 2 and 1.

Get Randle for Johnson and upgrade your 4 spot while also giving yourself a team option for 18 mil in 2021.

#8 you can still get a guard prospect that can play off DLo if the goal is Edwards/Ball, along with another prospect at #27 - maybe Precious, to be more big support for KAT.

Knicks get a potential star.

Minny gets a 3rd offensive option off the bench or next to KAT, 3 prospects and the chance to get $18 mil in cap relief the following season that Johnson's contract wouldn't allow for.

Go tell your team to take it. :damn:
Who are you talking about?
I wouldn’t do it. I don’t believe in trading up for number 1 ever. Cause if the player was truly worth it, why would he be available?
Each team has its own set of circumstances. This year, the spot itself is more valuable than the player you’ll choose with it. Because there isn’t necessarily a player so good you’ll take them and “make it work” you’ll focus on fit.

for the Knicks, the player might be worth it. For another team, it’s about what that #1 selection can get you. Each team has its own needs.

I’m all for Cole Anthony also. Can’t go wrong with a homegrown kid. Maybe he had to be a inefficient chucker at UNC.

the garden needs more athleticism
his 43 inch vertical will be put to good use
I think Cole Anthony in NY makes sense
He has a lot of potential but his stock got destroyed by his season at UNC

Hell no.... HELL NO.

That is the type of trade that only makes sense if more than Talent, the Knicks want to appease CAA clients, at 8 the Knicks need to draft a non CAA talent or it will be a misfit/reach.

Even the mocks having them take Toppin and Vassell are based more on then being CAA clients than need/fit/talent.
I'm an advocate for trading up and I wouldn't give no where near that much up. You give that kind of package up for a surefire thing, and even though I like Melo breh still needs work. We could probably get the other Ball brother for much cheaper rn, that would be a much better move to make.

Ok, My dumb offseason scenario of the week:

Sacramento calls and offers Buddy Hield and 12 for Knox, 8, the 23 Mavs pick and Scott Perry. What do you guys say?
Hield will make 24 next season but is on a front loaded contract and that leaves us with about 25+ left in room before possibly dumping Randle.
I'd do this without a doubt, the Knicks need to be on the phone trying to make some shyt like this happen. I'm a big fan of Kira and he'll likely still be on the board for the 12th pick. If no trades are made though I want the Knicks to pick Hayes at 8. I still think Hayes is one of the best prospects in the draft and the concerns about his lack of athleticism are overblown imo. Brodie got that wiggle to his game, I'm sure after a year or 2 of experience he'll have no problem creating separation in the NBA.

Also, the Knicks need to keep that Mavs pick for next year at all costs. The Mavericks are a great team and have something special in the makings no doubt, but the west is still a slaughterhouse and it'll be even tougher now since the draft lottery basically broke in favor of the Western Conference. Minny will be competitive next year and Golden State is a lock to make the playoffs next year, so there's a chance the Mavs won't make it next year. The Knicks are due for some good luck for once, so roll the dice and keep the pick.

I don't think I'd do that. I'd play hard ball since we'd be doing them a favor to take Hield's contract when he's probably relegated to a sixth man role going forward (and making all that money).

Toppin and Vassell aren't being mocked over CAA more than need/fit/talent breh. Vassell is a perfect fit for Thibs and Toppin falling to 8 would be the clear BPA.

I got to disagree.

Vassell looks like a SG and the knicks have a superior one in RJ. His WIngspan isn’t long enough to say he could play SF. Also if his skill set was a legit need mocks would have Okoro and Nesmith getting drafted by us as well. The two of them aren’t needed with RJ on the roster. Also next year is such a strong SF draft...... if we get anyone decent Vessell is bench bound.

As for Toppin..... I just don’t see it, as much as the Knicks don’t like Randle, he’s on the roster. 2021 has Markkenan as a FA. Not for nothing I am 100% is flipping the money over, being bad but develop the youth, and then paying him. 6’9 college Junior, Amare is not the move for a team as bad as us, also there seems to be a lot of smoke about the Cavs picking him anyway. Plus there are three other PFs in this draft (J Smith, Paul Reed, Precious) who fit Thibs style more. Honestly, Obi would be Boozer in Thibs system and Boozer was never worth the money there. If they wanted a PF draft Aleksej Pokuševski.

This is the 2009 draft all over again. The Knicks need to get a PG who they can hopefully rely on for the next decade.

Vassell can give you like 90% of that with ready made shooting and playmaking potential.

This. I don’t want Vassell or Toppin

our one major need is a point guard for the future, no need to get cute with the pick. Just take the best available point guard in my opinion :yeshrug:
