Relax... He stumbled into a decent lineup like he's BEEN doing. If Elfrid, Dennis and Mitch don't get injured you think he'd have settled on this rotation?are we ready to admit that fizdale is a good coach?
yall jumped on his ass for not having a steady rotation 5 games in
but now that things have settled down, id say hea doing a damn good job

The thing with Trier, he’s seen Kanter do the same thing with success last year and then earlier this year he did the same thing and got a starting spot after. Someone else in the thread said that RJ chucked a shot towards the end probably cause Randle and Morris starting looking dudes off. So they’re negatively reinforcing these dudes. This gotta get nipped in the bud.
I don't think it's the most important thing for this team. On the court, he's the fifth option every time and that's fine because our other offensive options are that good (for the most part)He needs to look to score the way he did last night in that 3Q every single game
Of course it won’t happen. Dude scared as shyt to tell players noAlso this
I don't think he'll do this

I still don't think he has an appreciation for who should be out there in key moments and I still think he places way too much value in these rental vets.

I asked you a question to back up what I'm saying that you conveniently ignoredspoken like a true hater

everytime fizz does something right its always luck or by accident with u. can't just give the man his respect

this isnt a big deal to me.I mean...he literally had Trier, DSJ, Payton and RJ Barrett ahead of Frank on the depth chart at PG. I do give him credit for Taj though, coulda easily went with Bobby Portis and this season woulda continued to be a debacle. Either way though, he's done three things recently that I really wanted to see and I give him credit for trending in the right direction.
- He set a rotation and has stuck to it. The next big tests of this are coming when Bullock and Payton get back, if and how he tries to integrate them will be extremely tricky.
- He's running more pick and roll sets for the guards including high pick and rolls early on and late in games (the Morris/Mitch high pick and roll saw some success too).
- Way faster on the Timeout trigger when things are going off the rails.
All of these tweaks to his coaching have me much more optimistic than I was over his first 90 or so games as a Knicks coach.
There are some things I'm still hoping for though and will give him props for doing:
- Let the Guards initiate the offense in crunch time. Randle and Morris are too quick to call their own number and go hero-ball, so the defense can load up and stop them. Design a couple of plays and actions that put Randle and Morris into positions to receive the ball and attack right away instead. This probably works best with RJ handling although last game he forced stuff in the fourth himself.
- In general, stop letting the Forwards bring the ball up off defensive rebounds so often. These dudes aren't fast enough with the ball in hand anyway and most of the time they slow it down so we're in a half court set but being run by Forwards instead of Guards.
- I'd love to see him implement a couple of backdoor counters for when players try to press up and jump the passing lane on our initiating action. It shouldn't be too difficult but would take time to perfect. Basically, a lot of our action is ball handler to one side of the floor and then send the ball the opposite way to catch the defense off balance and moving. That action either goes to a big at the top of the arc or in a direct cross court swing pass but in both cases, the second guard tends to get some form of down screen as he comes up to receive the rock. The adjustment which Dot, RJ and Ellington are all smart enough to master would be to feint like they're gonna do the usual and then make a hard cut to the basket. If the screener recognizes the overplay, they could also reset on the opposite side of the defender.
- I'd also love some backdoor screens for Knox in particular because he's floating at times and while that's on him, the coach can draw up some things to try and get Knox and others thinking differently (he did this and got Frank going early last game and he deserves credit for that).
Fiz has shown promise and I've got him as our best coach in recent years, but he's got a ways to go before he's got my trust long term...same as most of our young guys to be fair. Everything is showing some promise but not there yet.
Booty Man been solid this yearMudiay is trash even on the jazz.
I'm trying to understand the argument you're making....and it sounds like you're saying it doesn't matter to you that the head coach couldn't figure out after the advantages of training camp, multiple practices, preseason, hours of video footage of his players, the financial backing of Dolan, and basic common sense that his best perimeter defender and soon-to-be revealed best point guard probably should've gotten a chance ahead of two shooting guards and two point guards that he was playing better than?this isnt a big deal to me.
especially considering how fukked up the roster is and how early in the season it was. nothing wrong with expertimenting. trier doesnt even play anymore and smith has come off da bench since returning. rj doesnt play pg anymore but nothin wrong with puttinn him there early to see what he could do.
the injuries were a blessing in disguise because it helped clear up the mess that was created by mills and perry. but i still think fizz would of continued to experiment until he found the right regardless. after smith got booed in da garden, frank was definitely gonna get his opportunity regardless
we dont even need payton or bullock, which further proves my point. fizz gotta find time for these guys when theres no room for them to play
