Payton is clearly the Knicks best PG(I'd say he's their only PG, but that's a different discussion). He needs to be starting and playing 30+ minutes.

i don’t think he NEEDS to be starting but he is the best pg on the team. And that’s why he closes the games. He’s a real floor general, something i think Frank is missing the most in his game right now, it’s not the scoring imo. It’s the command of the team, telling guys where to be, free styling when plays break down. Being an extension of the coach on the floor. Demanding the ball from Randle when he thinks he wants to play point guard. Unfortunately, Payton is still young and too much competition for Frank for him to be a real mentor to him.

Next thing i need to see from Miller is playing less bigs. I want to see him sub dot in for Mook or Randle sometimes.

Why do you think Frank is going to be an NBA caliber PG? He wasn't in France, he's shown nothing so far that he can be a NBA PG, his handle, aggressiveness and instincts aren't that of a PG. I think he can be a useful part for a team but he's not a PG and never will be.

Four games in and four (imo) well coached games by Mike Miller. Two wins, one defeat by way of Julius Randle bricked free throw, and one blowout where the Knicks missed 31 threes and the league leader in 3pt % went 1 for 5. Say what you will about the lack of talent on this team but as I've indicated, proper coaching will bring a couple more wins where talent doesn't.
this post is not gonna age well:laff:

At worst he’s a combo guard. Every thing you listed he’s improved on and can still improve on.

I mean as much as we go back and forth on the coaching, even though i feel Fiz left some wins on table, I dont think we'd be in here every game going back and forth about this shyt if the front office aint bring in all these nikkas. If we was watching RJ, Mitch, Frank, Knox, DSJ, Dot, Trier and Iggy get a lot of minutes win or lose, Fiz would probably still have a job and we wouldnt be arguing about him not holding dudes accountable. :yeshrug:

No nikka YOU are
:russ:

I said nothing that wasn't a fact. Tangibly and INCLUDING the blowout game, the Knicks are taking smarter shots offensively, are converting on plays coming out of timeouts more frequently. I'm not making any predictions as to what's GOING to happen, I'm just pointing out what I see so far. You nikkas are so threatened at the possibility at being wrong you not even willing to admit facts. FOH.

Miller’s hiring also coincides with the return of Elfrid Payton.

Get Fiz off ya mind :umad:

I can agree with this but I also think that was part of my problem with Fiz. Last year he had no incentive to do anything other than play the young kids, but he consistently played Mudiay, Kanter, Hezonja, and Lance Thomas big minutes over younger guys. We all swept it under the rug either because we stopped watching or because we thought it was contributing to the tank, but this year he does it again (and admittedly that's because of the FO). At some point, we needed to see what Fizdale could do to help build this team but outside of being a motivator, I don't see what he brought to the table from a development standpoint. Maybe at the end of the season I'll have a better understanding

:deadrose:

Post a 4 game offensive rating that includes a game where the team misses more than half of their uncontested field goals :heh:

I notice you don't contest my ATO point either (In the first 19 games, the Knicks were -2.4 in ATO conversions per game, -46 total)

I will take into account that Fizdale didn't have Payton for the majority of his tenure this season, but I'll also note that the Knicks looked really bad when Payton was in anyway. In fact, up until Payton got hurt in the Bulls game, the Knicks were well on their way to losing 5 straight. Coincidentally, once Payton went out, Portis got hot and we won. Whether it's coincidence that the Knicks won their four games under Fiz without Payton or poor coaching we'll never know. I just know that the Knicks biggest issues all year under Fizdale, existed when he had Elfrid healthy and starting, and now those big issues are severely relaxed under Miller. We need more games to know for sure.

Edit: For further context with ATO's
