One Of The Last Real Ones To Do It

Can't go full recap on a performance that bad. The vets spent the game complaining to the refs, playing soft defense and looking too damned comfortable for a group that got blown out whenever they were on the floor. It was the young dudes that really put in effort. Dot came in and hit three's that sparked things. Mitchell Robinson's defense was insane, 4 blocks and 3 steals don't even do justice to how much he locked down the paint. The team lost by 21 and he was a +2. Mitch was really good. Both of these dudes ought to be in the conversation for starting roles right now.
Knox was good too, out of control at times but playing at a high speed and effort level. I like what his motor has looked like the past few games. DSJ was more a mixed bag than he's getting credit for. Dude had some ultra athletic plays and made some nice passes and reads. But he also turned it over ugly repeatedly and sometimes looked aimless on both ends. So he's getting killed for the bad parts but it's worth mentioning he looks more explosive now than at any other point this season.
Obviously the controversy has come from the last minute of the game. Crowder goes for a steal and three which was blatant stat padding and disrespect. Payton rightfully threw Crowder to the floor. We have unwritten rules and you don't do that up 18 in a blowout. That said, it'd be a lot easier to avoid this situation if the players showed some respect for their home arena at any point earlier. You lay down on defense and whine at the refs all night, you look soft. Crowder deserved to be checked but he also felt comfortable doing what he did because of how the Knicks played. I just hope this galvanizes these guys to show some heart next time.
Last bit...it feels like the mercenaries are taking their roles for granted. Morris and Randle felt like they were going through the motions on offense, sometimes even looking off open guys to play two man ball with each other taking isolations. Randle missed two wide open cutters on the night (got away with one by finding an open shooter though) and Morris basically played "let's reset and run it again" whenever he did choose to pass. Payton just has some really frustrating defensive habits that take away from otherwise good performances and it's blatant that teams don't think he'll shoot. PG's aren't just going under screens, they're dropping with Mitch and inviting Payton to do whatever he feels like in space...because they know he's not gonna pull-up.
Actually one more; only 1 starter made any 3 pointers on the night. The other 4 players took 6 attempts and missed them all. That's pretty awful. Something's gotta change, can't have a starting unit that not only can't make three's but also won't even risk shooting 'em. So again...Dot is the hot hand lately, has played steady moreso than most vets have and should probably get a look as a starter...it's not like we're winning anyway.

Soooo many times he could’ve have stopped before he got to that level but nope, had to call the nikka “feminine” acting
