Quick Thoughts:

Offense:

• Fizdale's offense mainly consist of ISO's, inefficient Randle post ups and P&R. No passes out of the high post and very little shots off screens.
• Randle is a subpar ball handler, but he has irrational confidence in his vision and ball handling abilities. Fiz could and should reign this in, his allowing and enabling of Randle's bad habits is a red flag.
• Knox has bad shot selection, but his form is great. He would benefit from an offense with good off ball movement, but unfortunately that is not what the Knicks currently have.
• Bobby Portis has been trash shooting the ball, but he is still jacking up and missing uncontested 3's.
• Barrett looks great, good IQ, great body control, and his handle's impressive. If he was in a system that valued player movement he would be even more effective.
• Overall, the offense is a mess. The Knicks settle for bad long jumpers, there is a lack of clarity regarding roles, and the veterans who are a band of never-was ass dudes are taking advantage of an indifferent or ineffective coach. This likely will not change.

Defense:

• Kemba got to any part of the floor he wanted to. There was no extra pressure on him, even when he got hot.
• Randle and Portis continue to show that they are horrible interior defenders, and will give up easy points if they are out there together. You couple their ineffectiveness with bad perimeter defenders and that leads to horrible defense.
• Trier, DSJ,and Payton played horrible P&R defense and the Celtics took advantage of that. They were ineffective in fighting over picks and sticking to Kemba. And Fiz often pairing them with the Randle+Portis combo lead to defensive breakdowns.

It's very small sample size but the problem is that he's shooting 9% from the field, 0% from 3, gets absolutely torched on defense, has 0 confidence and even when he is at his best he doesn't know how to run an offense.

Also he couldn't shoot in the pre-season either, 17 percent.

Strong defensive player on a team that is devoid of defense-first players. Also, the other point guard options are negative defensive players

Hornacek and Fisher without Phil Jackson breathing on their necks are better coaches then the con man Fiztales

Hornacek is a guard coach and would have done well with RJ
Ironically a lot of the young Knicks players now would fit in the triangle now that Phil is gone
e.g. Knox, Frank, RJ, Mitch, idk about Trier
Fisher might have done well with them
