His athleticism is eye popping, he's a better passer, he's a better defender with some serious potential on that end, and his C&S game from the corner is solid and developing.

Imagine a core of Mitchell, Bridges, Barrett, and Mitchell, way more athleticism and physicality.

fukk it what’s done is done tho :hubie:

Randle just needs to be reigned in a little.

I actually see RJ playing much better when he's also on the court. (Going by my memorybrehs;
with actual stats, please feel free to set me straight). Randle has been good at finding him in the cut as well.

As to all the high bball iq brehs in here, I absolutely see what y'all are talking about regarding RJ needing to play with shooters.

It's funny how we think most of Allan Ho-, I mean Wayne Ellington's shots are coming from plays run for him. I'm afraid the reason he gets those looks is for a much sadder reason...:francis:

Ellington is a prime example of what effort looks like when it comes to taking advantage of screens and constantly keeping his defender guessing.

Knox? Frank? And just about any other person who should be in constant off-ball motion are showing the typical NY Knick approach to motion...damn near non-existent.:yeshrug:

It's because of the above that the only person with great open looks appears to be Ellington.

Now, Ellington's real issue? He's doing entirely too much. Maybe, as a vet, he feels like he needs to but him putting the ball on the floor more than 2 dribbles is already too much. He needs to shoot or pass. Knicka thinks he's Klay Thompson.:martin:

If Fiz is a real coach; there is no excuse for the film sessions NOT to be focusing on putting WAY more effort in taking advantage of screens and motion offense. Our defense is seemingly better than I have seen in YEARS but, for the life of me, WHY THE fukk WOULD FIZ ALLOW THE STRATEGY OF COLLAPSING ON THE OPPONENT'S DRIVE TO THE PAINT WHEN MITCH IS IN THE fukkING GAME?!:what::gucci:

Mitch is going to get into foul trouble one way or another; might as well let it be when he's supposed to be sending a shot to the stands. TRUST YOUR fukkING BIG MAN. We are collapsing as if Enes Kanter is on the floor. We still leave the perimeter almost every fukking time the opps drive. shyt makes no sense in 2020 NBA basketball.

If the scouting report says the opps have efficient 3 pt shooters...don't leave them so much.

Rant over...

Several defensive breakdowns by the Knicks present in this highlight package:

  • Around the :49 mark, Randle should have stepped up to contest, but I'm not sure if this is bad bball IQ or if Fizdale's P&R system is to drop coverage (Have interior defenders protect the paint instead of chasing shooters off the 3 point line)
  • 1:22--Randle shows lazy effort in getting back and contesting Kemba at the rim, despite initially having the jump on him.
  • 1:30--Portis doesn't close out.
  • 1:49--Randle doesn't close out on Walker transition 3. Lazy effort.
  • 1:57--Randle leaves his man open. A triple team on Walker was unnecessary. Evidence of low bball IQ on Randle's part.
  • 2:23--Robinson doesn't close out.
  • 2:45--Randle doesn't drop down into the paint quickly enough leading to him getting dunked on. It's true Randle could have potentially given up the corner 3 if he leaves his man earlier, but the corner 3 would have been Kemba's second option and a more difficult pass.
  • 2:57--Portis doesn't close out in time, you look at his feet and he initially thought to drop. The indecision plays a part in him being late.

Frank has been put in position time and time again. He just isn’t good I don’t know what it’s going to take for y’all to realize that.

What exactly has been mishandled about Kevin Knox? A chucking, defensive liability like him may not have even played big minutes last season on a team like Boston, certainly not in front of Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward, and Jaylen Brown.

And y’all still going on about this DeAndre B.S.? :shaq2:
Knicks fans can be cornballs.

Most of y'all are rooting for a certified scrub on the guise that he plays defense and plays the "right way".
There is no "guise" about his defense. It's proven through most stats and the display he put on during FIBA World Cup. As you noted Frank had been given chances time and time again. Sometimes he looks good, sometimes he looks bad, but most times it's his defense that shines through. If you can't see that then perhaps you're delusional. If he were complete trash and showed no hope offensively, then this wouldn't be a discussion

Once in a blue moon he looks okay the vast majority of the time he’s awful.

Overall he’s a well below average player who y’all like because he defends. Simple.

Agree to disagree. Dennis Smith Jr is playing "awful" on account of he's bad on both ends. I reserve awful for players who are huge negatives when they're on the court. Most times Frank will be bad (a net negative) but never awful because his defense is that good
