Because it eats up huge amount of salary cap which we won't be able to use on players that have a future in this league. Or multiple, boatloads of picks and maybe even talent that can be acquired when taking on bad salaries from other teams.

Why are you trading for him then if you don't care about his ability to stay on the court? I thought the whole point was to have him improve the team significantly. A guy that couldn't play 60 games at 32 will not be able to play 82 games at 36 at a high level. And certainly not play anywhere close to his prime.

Again what is being good?

Are we really still arguing about numbers that can be easily looked at and compared.

Randle is only guaranteed one more year at $23m (not $19m because of a 3rd year buyout bonus).

CP3 is guaranteed two more years at $41m and $44m.

No we won't waive Randle because he only has one more year remaining at much more reasonable money than what will be a 36 year old injury prone 6 foot point guard.
Man you need to focus on building a culture around the young players and if we get that then players will come . If CP3 can help develop Barrett bad Mitch and other young guys into winning smart basketball players then he’s worth every dime . Youguys think it’s cool to just keep tanking or saving money but those are just potential . We can’t only hope on ping pong balls or some star decides to team up randomly in nyc cause we got cap space . We need to take chances there is only limited stars and with the new draft system being mediocre isn’t as bad as the past if we showing development

such as?

Edit: And Jason Kidd was injury prone and played his last game that season. CP3 is younger, better, and will last longer than Kidd did. Same benefits for a longer term. The benefits of Jason Kidd were only for the one season he was here. I'd like to reap rewards for long term
Exactly. I understand not wanting him due to his play if that’s your reason or personality but the money thing I don’t get . He has 2 more full seasons at a high rate of pay . We should be able to get his current skill set for most of that which to me would both turn into player development and probably wins . And. It helps our reputation around the league if we can make up for the end of melo tenure debacle

We need a 2012-13 Jason Kidd leadership type of player on a two year contract at most. Not an injury prone guy making $40 million.
And CP3 is that :heh:

Like I said him being injury prone isn't that important. We are a rebuilding squad we only need 60 games out of him and 25-30 minutes a game. His salary also isn't all that troublesome because we have the space to absorb it and we won't be in play for big free agents as a rebuilding team.

CP3 may be declining but he's far from a bum. He is a very good point guard. He's averaging 16/4.5/6.3 on 46/38/90 splits with 2 steals, he's playing to a 21 PER, he's still pretty valuable on both ends and leads OKC in win shares. OKC was expected to be a bottom feeder and they're 12-14 with Paul. He also hasn't missed a game so far this season. Some of y'all complained about his usage but he's at a career low usage rate and has been deferring and mentoring Shai.

I don't see him falling off a cliff in the next 2.5 years. He instantly improves the team and helps us with player development. Paul knows how to run a team it's that simple.

Kidd played 76 games that season at age 39, which is almost 20 games more than CP3 played last two seasons.

Kidd's contract was $8.5 million, CP3 has $85 million remaining on his :heh:

So? What the fukk are the Knicks gonna do in the next 2 seasons in free agency that this concerns you so much? :mjlol:

CP3 is also way better than Kidd was. You acting like this nikka washed and trash when he's still a top 10 point guard :bryan:

We have room to absorb his contract and still sign mid tier guys :heh:

These guys just want to stockpile draft picks and young players on top of the young players we have and just let 'em play relying on ping pong balls and player development, and hoping a big free agent comes, continually losing within a toxic culture. It's no way to build a team.

It's not gonna work and none of these guys are truly transcendent prospects like that even in the upcoming draft
