Knox and Frank ain't deserve extra minutes. Knox's minutes in particular were painful, he looked absolutely lost on defense tonight.

Honestly i don’t mind Elfrid and Julius playing. It’s all the other guys getting heavy minutes that’s head scratching. This win did absolutely nothing for this teams development.

but if there is someone better (and not Mark Jackson) then the knicks can go for them
but continuity is important too
however, if frank, knox, and mitch are not going to be developed here, then why are they on the team?
why pick up frank's option?
why not trade them all at the deadline if they are being used like this?

i'm all for giving more burn to the players we drafted (Frank, Knox, Mitch, RJ) but while watching this game, i took a step back and tried to view it from a player's perspective, not just a fan.

if i'm Randle, Payton, Bullock, Ellington or Portis... of course i'm gonna ball out if coach puts me in. the same goes if i'm one of the rookies. coaches, just like players, are opportunists and send in whomever they think can win, not who's been here the longest.

if Frank put up Payton's numbers tonight, this whole thread would go bonkers! instead, i heard crickets. is that because we didn't draft Payton?

a fair argument could be made that we should sacrifice winning for the sake of developing our youth but let's cut the bullshyt... this is New York and patience runs thin in our city. this isn't Philadelphia, Phoenix, or Memphis. no one was complaining when we gutted our young core for Melo back in 2011.

whether we drafted, signed, or traded for our players is short sighted. what matters is that each one of them are here (for now) and we should all be supportive as long as they win, which is what they did tonight. winning cures everything.

I’m fine with Payton. He’s earned the job for the rest of the year and i wouldn’t even mind bringing him back next season. But the rotation should absolutely be Payton-Dot-RJ-Julius-Mitch then DSJ-Frank-Iggy-Knox-Taj or Portis i don’t care. Literally no point in playing Ellington and Bullock any meaningful minutes when there is no future benefit to it. They’re not gonna develop and they’re not contributing to the future of this organization.

The Knicks can't acquire young talent if they can't develop them

I would understand if this was a winning team (like the Nuggets who bench young players because of Malone) but it's not

playing the vets have led to a well below .500 record and again that's not how development works
on the grizzlies for example, if a young player makes a mistake, they don't just yank them for a vet
they try to make them figure it out or how else are they going to figure it out?

this also doesn't make sense because the seasoned vets on this team has made just as many low IQ dumbass plays as the young players
