Zion was a league of his own for sure, but I'll still feel some pain if we move up from 6 but miss on LaMelo and Edwards. I think both of those guys would be like adding a force multiplier to the young core. LaMelo is a playmaker through and through, he'll make everyone look better by sheer style of play and I think his playmaking will translate pretty quickly. I really like Edwards though despite being the bigger question mark fit. I think if you've got Edwards and RJ on the wings with Mitch patrolling inside; you can build a modern bully ball team that's capable of putting up big scores but probably even better suited for physical, grind 'em out fights. The wings are both 20 ppg type talents in that case; you surround 'em with defense and shooting then develop them into a one-two punch for a generation.
Frank/Edwards/RJ/Knox/Mitch would be fun to watch
MSG needs an athletic high flying fast break team

That's stood out to me most and I hope it trickles down to the roster.

A specialized capologist. A specialized scout and player development guy. We have building blocks for defensive specialists in Frank and Mitch. What do we have besides that, in terms of defined skills/specialists? Between fukking around with the GM mode and watching the Last Dance, it really reminded me of the importance of addressing specific skillsets you want and creating a system for it. Our last good year we had legit scorers(Melo, JR, STAT), legit shooting (Novak, Copeland), legit facilitators (Felt, Kidd, Prigi) and a legit defensive anchor (Chandler) along with defensive minded pieces, despite being young or old (Shump, Kidd, Camby, KT) as key rotational guys. Whatever direction we settle on, I really hope these are things they keep in mind.

I flip flop on this a lot but if I'm Rose - Portis, DSJ, Ellington, Bullock, Knox, Payton, Randle and Taj need to go for pennies by any means necessary because none of them do anything particularly well. Get whatever current and future draft assets you can for a DSJ, Randle and Knox and let the rest go. Dot can shoot and play D, Trier can get buckets - if either can be kept long term for cheap, they're valuable, otherwise let them go.

Go all in on LaMelo with whatever assets available.

Have Frank, RJ and Mitch as your core to build around with Melo.

Zero in on Joe Harris, Davis Bertans, Christian Wood and Andre Roberson as free agency targets.

Mitch/Bertans
Wood/Draft Pick
RJ/Harris
Roberson/Dot or Trier
LaMelo/Frank

Good mix of youth, length, offense and defense, score by committee while giving Melo the opportunity to shine as the primary facilitator, have RJ work with Harris and Bertans shooting day and night, have Roberson build Frank up some more, see how this team manages and what options become available tradewise (Mitchell?) or FA (Giannis) and go from there. The foundation is there, the front office seems to be moving in a positive direction and you're in a favorable position despite the Coronavirus because most teams will be sellers right now. Time to take advantage and build a culture.

Fam, I run through different offseason scenarios all the time like this for sure. It's a lot of fun to mess around with. I love trying to build teams that are equal to more than the sum of the parts like that Detroit Championship team. We've been doing Build a Team and Build a Franchise on the Knicks forum at Realgm for hella long and it definitely makes for a lot of fun.

I like that Joe Harris idea a lot, I'd slot him to start at SG instead of bringing in Roberson for that crew tbh.

Until the lottery kills the dream, my dream scenario is winning the lottery and trading up into the high teens for Lewis. Then they commit to living and dying by the young core with Edwards/RJ being the focal points of the offense and Randle being given away for whatever we can get. Gimme Atkinson to develop 'em and pull in a couple of vets that are high level complimentary players.

If we overachieve then good...if we have growing pains than the next draft is really stacked anyway.

PG: Lewis/Frank
SG: Edwards/Joe Harris (if Harris is a reach than Bryn Forbes for spacing)
SF: RJ/Knox
PF: Gallinari/Wooten
C: Mitch/Baynes

I think that would be fun as hell to watch. The youth HAS to step up but there are vets around to help them along and I think the vets I've picked would also take contracts that don't kill our long term cap flexibility.

I think the knicks make a run at Bobby Webster from the Raptors and if he says no they just keep Perry as GM,

Hell if Webster comes over, the knicks might keep Perry with a new title and just pay him to stay

The two names I'd like to see us make a run at regardless of how likely it is to land are Bobby Webster and Mike Zarren over in Boston. I think both are long shots but I'd be pretty happy if we brought either guy in to do some work while we're poaching other franchises of well liked front office work. Zarren is an analytics guy too, which we could use.

Knicks Legend

This fukkin bum!! I'm not a video game player but during this quarantine I found my daughters old Xbox one and hooked it up at my crib. The latest 2K she had for that was 2K15. I'm playing the Association with the Knicks and wasn't gonna play the cheating ass computer with this trash roster so I simulated the season. Off season comes around and I'm cleaning house. I didn't offer this bum shyt. The computer must have, but this mofo gonna reject some offer I allegedly made! I'm like who the fukk does this bum think he is turning ME down?? I was offended!
The computer also signed Tobias Harris and Wilson Chandler. I let that go thru cuz alotta mufukkas were turning me down. Tryna turn 1 of them nikkas into a backup pg via trade tho. Don't need both.

Yes. Yes, I am bored.

I've had virtual beef with players over MyGm mode too fam, I feel you. I also became a fan of players just off their being good to exploit in video games...Mikael Pietrus was a MONSTER in the old 2K games for me for absolutely no damned reason.

Also, speaking of Cole Aldrich

:mjlol:...and he responded

The off season plan I’ve been fukking with the most is Declining everyone’s options, trading Randle DSJ and 27 for James Johnson and 16. Then signing FVV (20), Christian Wood (18) and Harry Giles (Mid Level). Resign Dot (10) and sign back Harkless and Taj to vet mins. Drafting Hayes, Nesmith and Killian Tillie and rocking out with a lineup that looks like:
FVV/Hayes/Peters (2 way)
Frank/Dot/Nesmith
RJ/Knox/Iggy
Woods/Johnson/Tillie/Wooten (2 Way)
Mitch/Giles/Gibson

Also Thibs was on the Woj pod today... kept name dropping the knicks like he’s slick :lolbron:

Heard Thibs on the Woj pod, he definitely wants the job.

We don't need RJs body falling a part 5 years earlier :whoa:

FVV and Woods for those contracts would be a great way to aim for a quick turn around. I really like Giles as a developmental pick-up too. Not sure we can get Nesmith based on where I've seen him mocked and every draft scout type seems to really love him, so I think he'll go mid-late lottery. I'd love to get him to stretch the floor though. This is definitely the type of team build to keep the team young but make a playoff push.

How is that Woj podcast overall? I may have to peep that Thibs interview when I get a chance.
