One post on IG I saw, assuming it's true, with cap considerations going as expected, Knicks can offer 5 for 140, Raptors can offer 5 for 100.

I disagree slightly. Stripping the team and just playing the young guys is ONE way to develop them but i personally feel like signing vets who compliment them is way more effective. We wasted a whole year of development on RJ, Mitch, Frank, and Knox. They all looked bad last year. We need to start playing catch up and surrounding them with low usage vets that can space the floor and have them competing in meaningful games is priceless.
Knicks can’t offer 5. Only the raptors can. The Max the Knicks or any other team can offer is 4 for 120 i think based on where the cap lands. His Max starting salary in year one should be like 27 million. Offering 4 for 88 isn’t even offering him his max and is about what the pacers paid for Malcolm Brodgon PLUS a first round pick. They are comparable players imo and Brogdon is a big reason the pacers were a playoff team this year. Brogdon is probably the better playmaker and defender because of his size but VanVleet is the better shooter and has better playoff experience.
Preferably I’d rather offer him a 3+1 team option so he could be easier to trade in a year or 2 if we need to.

Two things I've heard in regards to FVV that I haven't seen spoken of in here.
1) FVV wants the bag this year. He's probably going to whatever team is gonna pay him more instead of fit ESPECIALLY because he's already won his ring
2) The Raptors don't want to give Vanvleet the max...and probably aren't going to spend more than 20 mil to retain him because they have other guys they need to pay too. They're sitting at 86 million without resigning any of their UFAs and I do believe they're looking to add another free agent to their current roster.
Who knows what could happen
