Everybody thought he would pull through. When we found out he died everybody was bumping PAC out the whip smoking and drinking in public and yeah some people did cry. It was unbelievable now that I think about it. Remember exactly where I was when I heard.

They see me trolling, they hating.....
I honestly didn't care at first.....was just a kid.

My only exposure to Pac before his death was Poetic Justice and Above the Rim. I remember hearing and seeing alot of music videos for California Love, Keep your head up, I get around and Dear Mama also.

I think 90% of the little kids, or casual folks who didn't listen to hiphop only knew him from Poetic Justice/Janet Jackson

Didn't become a real fan until after he died tho...

So when n1ggas was in school bumping Cash Money in 98 (Cats used to bring the Cash money cds to school and be in awe of the wack album covers) I was just discovering Pac/Big/Nas etc and thought CMR was wack ass fuk lyrically compared to them

I was in 6th grade, I had just discovered PAC around when California love came out.. Loved that record so PAC was automatically one my favs at the time.. It was kinda like "PAC is in the hospital, I wonder when he's gonna get out" and then on of my moms friends was like "you know that nikka died right?"...

Biggie hit me harder tho, I just had that connection w/ his music and I couldn't believe when somebody told me they killed him.

I remember when he got shot (the final time) and was like, "Oh, he didn't die right away? He'll pull through, as always." Then, six days later, I remember listening to Angie Martinez on the way home from school with my boy and she broke the news. I was numb, astonished.

I lived in Jersey at the time and was a fan of Pac and Big (f*ck that nonsense ppl think).

But, for reals, though: I was f*cked up after finding out BIG died.

It had got to the point that as a young dude (think I was 14 or something) I was thinking 2pac was like a super hero that couldn't be killed.

shyt was sad though, I was in Texas so I'm sure it wasn't like it was in LA or NY but a nikkas was legit mad around my way and hated Biggie, Puffy and Bad Boy because of it...

It didn't help that Makeveli dropped right after he died and it was just :wow:

I pretty much thought the same thing.. I was 15 or 16 when Pac Died.. When He got shot in Vegas and Didnt die Immediately i had the :steviej: Face, then thought there is no way my Niqqa Pac is going to die because he is the realeset muthafuka on the planet, no way God going to allow him to die now :youngsabo:

Then a few days later he passes :to:

I remember that Friday 13th night he got shot and was pronounced dead. I was about 14-15 and that shyt hit a nikka hard. My mother's house phone blew up (no cell phones at the time) and people thought it was a joke. When MTV confirmed it it was like a punch in the chest. I don't think people really believed it as a whole and Makaveli dropping just reinforced that conspiracy theory. Texas nikkas especially Houston cats took it hard. DJ Screw even screwed and chopped All Eyez On Me Book 1 and Book 2 and had it on the streets by the following Friday. Before he had the shop and was strictly selling out the house off of Telephone and Park Place.

I blamed biggie. After that, in high school, we called him Piggie and referred to his albums as Life after Dinner and Ready To Eat. I was done with him. When i found out he died, i went back to sleep.

back then I was in HS....if you lived on the East (Philly, NYC, New Jerz)...you were too caught up in the Wu, Mobb, Nas, Biggie, Bootcamp albums to really get caught up in it. Hip Hop was dope then...a lot of ill artists, so no single person was really an icon like that where if he went down, the whole thing went down with him.

For what it's worth, I really don't remember anyone caring like that. It was more media sensationalism than anything. It was all over the news all the time with the drama on magazines, MTV, BET the radio. Shyt was a soap opera.

BTW...I still have the Phila Daily News with him on the cover announcing his death.

He was expected to survive so when he died it caught people off guard it was friday late afternoon/early evening when they announced it on radio.

yep, and that lead to a lot of denial and "he's still alive" theories. I remember I had a friend at work that was sure Pac was still alive
