Wu had hits and classic albums all through 95, but @dora_da_destroyer is right, they weren't getting daytime radio play in the Bay the way Method did the year prior with the joint with Mary and the way Big did.

Yes he had commercial hits but I don't know no one who was truly a coolio fan, spent time reading interviews, discussed his music, and/or actually cared about the well being of his career the way we did with the other artists named in here. People putting too much on what gangstas paradise meant

Coolio was never looked at as a great mc. Prior to gangster's paradise he had another classic on his previous album FANTASTIC VOYAGE.
After gangsta's paradise he had songs like too hot which were dope. His first two albums were good and very underrated as well as him in general. But he was never thee man

This is a great point. I would add that Bay brehs were always a little diverse with their taste. I knew brehs in 93 who had the De La album, the Souls of Mischief album, I remember being on the bus for basketball games and the Goodie Mob album getting played. But we all loved Bay Area shyt.

Yeah fantastic voyage was much better. I always thought gangster paradise was cheesy, and couldn't even take it seriously because of weird AL parody.
