the announcers portrayed them as a joke from the beginning. even JBL, the heel announcer, laughed at the notion of comparing themselves to all the legendary tag teams.

at this point they are clearly portrayed as arrogant buffoons.

but they do have some pretty decent tag maneuvers

They do, which is all they have. And a couple of decent matches against the Lucha Dragons lately, but that's nothing to be writing home about when they had those matches fine tuned back in NXT.

When Ascension debuted on NXT it was a pretty dope Underworld like gimmick. It could have went far on the main roster. Then they fired Bram and changed their gimmick to two guys who like beaying people up with a heavy (but dope) rock entrance.

They failed as soon as Viktor was brought on the scene. Which sucks because he is actually way better than this.
