Billy, I see you're passionate about this matter. and that's fine. but despite all the technicalities, philosophically...is it not questionable to be complicit in reducing your own brand and subsequently the culture to auctioneer "art" while you're still alive and have the ability to make music and then on top of that agree to the sale of this "art" to a faceless bidder without thoroughly vetting him/ her first?

You don't see how that destroys a brand. .. do you even value the brand by saying "RZA came up... he got 2Ms! ?"

If you, clearly a diehard supporter don't value the brand... the art... then why should we?

.... and why should someone like this guy value it?

:mindblown:

Nobody really has to debate you because you're destroying your own argument with each post.

So much more coulda been done with that album to enhance the brand and progress the culture. ... you know, for A Better Tomorrow.

... but this is what we get.

And it's so puzzling because RZA is supposed to be so plugged in and he's proven his sharp business acumen, but yet the whole transaction comes off as so sloppy and mishandled.

Imagine this situation happening to a long lost Beatles album or a classical piece of fine art?

Right.

You can't. Because folks wouldn't have the audacity to do what this guy has done to those works.

And I think we both know why.

:stopitslime:

... and it also wouldn't happen in part because the curators the handlers of those works haven't and wouldn't trade their power and leverage over their brand in such a.seemingly wanton way.

RZA. .. believe has/had that power. And it seems he's completely misused it for a money grab and ended up sacrificing more than he probably could imagine.

Breh, I said if you weren't mad at this whole 1 album sale sh!t before the Martin Skhreli sh!t than you shouldn't be mad now. And again...most these n!ggas talking about that RZA sold out and shoulda just sold it to the fans are cats that wasn't gonna cop it anyway. They should just shut up. This sh!t could be the best Wu-Tang album ever and the sh!t still woulda went triple wood.

Pharmaceutical entrepreneur Martin Shkreli - who hiked the price of a life-saving drug by 5,000% - has been arrested by the FBI.

The 32-year-old was held at an apartment block in midtown Manhattan by agents who escorted him to a waiting car.

The investigation is linked to his time as manager of hedge fund MSMB Capital Management and chief executive of biopharmaceutical company Retrophin.

The Reuters news agency says he is due to be charged with illegally using Retrophin assets to pay off debts after MSMB lost millions of dollars.

Mr Shkreli bought a Wu-Tang Clan album for £1.3m earlier this year

Shkreli gained notoriety in September when his startup company bought the right to a life-saving drug and then hiked the price of it by 5,000%.

Daraprim is a 62-year-old drug mainly used to treat people who have toxoplasmosis, a potentially deadly parasitic infection.

The arrest is unrelated to the drug pricing row or his current companies Turing Pharmaceuticals and KalaBios.

However, shares of KaloBios fell by around half in premarket trading.

Shkreli was in the news again earlier this month when it emerged that he had purchased a single copy of a one-off Wu-Tang Clan album for $2m (£1.3m).

The group created just one copy of its album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, and said it would be sold to the highest bidder.

The 31-track album comes in a hand-carved box, accompanied by a leather-bound book with 174 pages of parchment paper filled with lyrics and background on the songs.

RZA sold one album for two million and yall mad at RZA?

Like Snoop said when they steam rolled his Doggystyle album in the 90s

"Yall paid for it" lol

He paid 2 million for a fukking rap album. That shyt ain't unlocking no secrets to life or teaching no secret hidden spiritual HipHop Kung fu shyt you think RZA sprinkled that cd with.

It's not even a real Wu album. A Wu stan basically made a double disc mixtape (which all mc's got paid for verses), RZA does no work on it and sells it for $2,000,000........Where's the issue?

FRom what I heard in order to secure the authenticity of the cd and to preserve it's value/price as a collector's item, all masters and recordings from those sessions were deleted.

I don't even think RZA or Cilvaringz have a copy.

For those asking on timestamps, at 33:50, they have the CD case outside the box & tells his boy to use the CD as a coaster for his beer, which he does.

:mjlol: Can someone please make a GIF out of this?

Weren't most of those songs were left overs like Ghostface's Apollo Kids?

sounded like it, just proves the fact that these guys couldnt put together a project

look at Meth, i mean you gotta love the guy but he just took 9 years to drop a retail mixtape. its far from all RZA's fault
