not to mention with the next generation consoles being all bluray, it's safe to say that cinavia and other DRM will plague both of them
It was already a bytch to use them for high quality movies anyway.not to mention with the next generation consoles being all bluray, it's safe to say that cinavia and other DRM will plague both of them

Exactly! You can play off the disc, but the thing that they wanna push with consoles is the ever-so-convenient ability to pre-order/download games digitally. See Sony's PS Store everytime a new game is released or going to be. They're offering pre-order discount for PS+ members, discounted/ultimate bundles for full games that include DLC and shyt, they want to eliminate disc use it seems like.
I have a good amount of games on my 360's 250gb HDD because 7-8 gigs isn't that bad to download/install 10-15 full games on with a bunch of DLC, some arcade games, and demos.
I damn sure ain't going to try to go all digital on some Steam shyt unless I can load up an external TB into my PS4/X1. 5 games at even 40 gigs a piece is 200 gigs fam.![]()

Threw consoles in the bushes as far as watching my BRRips on them a long time ago.

Exactly!
But then that is my point. What is the fascination with loading your games on the HD. Just put the damn disc in the drive and play. All this talk of a too small HD is the least of our next gen worries. Or should be.....

I've never had an issue with space before, but the idea is still something to consider. Those free PS+ games and hour long PS+ demos start to add up too fam. Plus games like MGS4 that install a shyt ton of content onto the HD already...and as mentioned before, keeping all that on a 500 gb HD with DLC and other content...

Exactly!

I agree that bluray is shytty but it's not the disc size that is, it's the drive speeds and noise that is lackluster as fukk.

more like held back by archaic design choices and ISP's limitations. PC games use compression and have got by fine. only on a console do you have to upload the entire contents of a Blu-Ray in uncompressed format and install in as just the full disc.
that's what i'm saying. if they're giving away a free title a month its gonna murder that hard drive and people's bandwidth caps. something has to give with all these services demanding all this bandwidth and ISPs trying to limit you monthly.
The only problem I have with the new consoles apart from thespecs is the hard drive size. 500GB is laughable with how much they want you to buy content online.
Hell you figure at this rate...if you have an active PS+ subscription that 500GB (450GB free) is going to fill up QUICK
thats a pretty bad solutionXbox One gets external HDD support down the road and PS4 has upgradable internal storage. TIl then, rotate installs![]()
What are you using an alternative ?true, and i haven't used consoles for movies or anything in a couple years because of the fukkery involved with it
but i know a lot of folks that still do, and it's gonna be an even bigger pain in the ass this time around
It's looking as though you won't be able to play directly off the disc.
next genWhat are you using an alternative ?
then that sucks.... so basically bigger games will force you to buy more stuff and it will still not be convent as you will need another HD eventually....defeating part of the convenience purpose of having games on the HD to start....
next gen
