Glory to Michigan
KBA made no adjustments from the first game. While it was a poorly officiated game on the road, Iowa exploited a very obvious flaw in the half court. The first game Iowa made it clear they weren't going to guard Brooke because she's short and can't shoot. The offense can't operate with her on the floor in half-court, it's effectively 4-on-5 with no lanes to drive.
In this game KBA initially did nothing to counter the above, Brooke played her normal minutes in the first quarter. This lack of adjustment resulted in Michigan scoring FOUR fukkING POINTS IN THE FIRST QUARTER! Now Iowa only scored 13, so it's not like they're some juggernaut but 4 points in a quarter is unacceptable.
Michigan's biggest runs came with Brooke on the bench, as other players had more room to operate. Even when she came back in, Iowa was sped up and Michigan was able to take a lead going into the 4th quarter. However, Iowa got back to what they did in the first quarter and what did KBA do? Continue to play Brooke her normal minutes and Michigan scored SIX fukkING POINTS IN THE FOURTH QUARTER!
I'm not trying to shyt on Brooke, I'm going to miss her tenacity when she graduates. My point is, this was not her game from a tactical standpoint. Her defense wasn't even all that good, Syla did the best job guarding Wright. However, it's on the coaches to make the personnel adjustment. This is a game where Te'Yala and Macy should have eaten into her minutes, as both can space the floor. There's also Mckenzie Mathurin's lack of playing time but that's a bit of a rant. I'll just say this was the exact type of game where someone with her skillset subs in for Brooke and hits the key shots down the stretche that wins the game...
