Thought Sinners had it in the bag but this is definitely the front runner for best picture.

I'd be hesitatant to call this PTA's best but it's VERY close. At the very least It's top 2. It's that good
Coogler caved into WB. PTA said go bankrupt for all I care...Im getting the oscar/best of the decade talk for what Im cooking.
I enjoyed it :manny: I really don't compromise my own tastes for consensus
I feel that.

@FlyRy A lot of talk about Greenwood (composer) winning the oscar for Best Score now. I can listen to Sinners score on its own and just: wow

However, within in the movie itself Greenwood might have took it from Ludwig :lupe:

How's that, specifically?
Its me connecting some dots. :whoa:

There was an article about how WB's big gambles. However, Bong (Mickey 17) was like fuk yo notes. PTA did test screenings but seemed to stick to his guns for the most part. It mentioned Coogler was more willing to work with the studio. He also gave up a part of his deal to cover going over budget.

The editor mentioned there was a much longer cut of the film at one point but they wanted to get it down to what I'd assume was audience/box office friendly. Which its hard to question.

And also just the movement from script to shooting and then release date was fast as hell. PTA shot OBAA from January to July and it had already been in development back in Jan to spring of 2023. Sinners filmed from April to July after just getting picked up by WB in January. Impressive what it accomplished in such a short time. However, most creators would have asked for more time to properly craft their big budget films.

this shyt was fire....but they could have cut it down some.

PTA best work in a long time...his last movie was aweful....hopefully he stays in this lane of doing exciting action thrillers.

Everybody did their thing in this...Even though she was super swirling, Teyana did her thing too.

I want to see it again.
