I believe this. Forget women you've dated even think of aunts, mothers, sisters. I've had many female family members who had their husband beat on them. My sister, my cousin my aunt all had men beat on them (my dad and his brothers have had to get involved so many times). Then there's the aunt with the husband who opened her skull. I think the older ones especially.
