One of the most deadliest neighborhoods in D.C is the most gentrified

The 14th, street corridor in D.C is one of the most gentrified areas of the city. It was at one point in time the biggest red-light district in the city and one of the biggest drug markets in the city. By the mid-2000's many of the liquor stores, apartments, and porno shops have now been replaced by Trader Joe's, vegan shops, and hookah lounges.

There are currently 47 homicides in NW and there have been 17 murders in total on or near 14th street.

Yes, Southeast is the worst part of the ciry. Its isolated from the rest of the city and the majority of it is section 8 apartments but they started tearing some hoods down. 2/3s of the cities homicides are in southeast

My homies used to always tell me when it was ms 13 initiation night. I'd go straight home.

It was a matter of time before gentrification happened all over. DC at one point you turn the corner and all of a sudden you in a bad neighborhood and turn another and you are in a good neighborhood. Baltimore was even worse in that regard.

When Cacs were buying houses and they see that this house is identical to another and has the same access to the same subways and shops. But this one is in a bad neighborhood and is 200k cheaper. The Cacs became brave and were buying the houses and using the savings to invest in security. They'd feel even more secure if more of them moved in.

So with the high market prices of course gentrification is going to happen in the high risk neighborhoods with the most crime cause that's where the lowest housing prices are.

i was in DC earlier this year and got a 100 $ parking ticket all cuz i wanted some damn italian ice from ritas smh..but before that even happened a fukkin trolley came out of nowhere and scared the shyt out of me as i was getting out of my car
